וַיּוֹצֵ֨א הָעֶ֜בֶד כְּלֵי־כֶ֨סֶף וּכְלֵ֤י זָהָב֙ וּבְגָדִ֔ים וַיִּתֵּ֖ן לְרִבְקָ֑ה וּמִ֨גְדָּנֹ֔ת נָתַ֥ן לְאָחִ֖יהָ וּלְאִמָּֽהּ׃
24:53
The servant brought out objects of silver and gold, and garments, and gave them to Rebekah; and he gave presents to her brother and her mother.
24:53
And the servant brought forth jewels of silver, and jewels of gold, and raiment, and gave them to Rebekah; he gave also to her brother and to her mother precious things.

וְאַפֵּק עַבְדָּא מָנִין דִּכְסַף וּמָנִין דִּדְהַב וּלְבוּשִׁין וִיהַב לְרִבְקָה וּמִגְדָּנִין יְהַב לַאֲחוּהָא וּלְאִמַּהּ:
ומגדנות. לְשׁוֹן מְגָדִים, שֶׁהֵבִיא עִמּוֹ מִינֵי פֵּרוֹת שֶׁל אֶרֶץ יִשְׂרָאֵל:
כ"ד:נ"ד
וַיֹּאכְל֣וּ וַיִּשְׁתּ֗וּ ה֛וּא וְהָאֲנָשִׁ֥ים אֲשֶׁר־עִמּ֖וֹ וַיָּלִ֑ינוּ וַיָּק֣וּמוּ בַבֹּ֔קֶר וַיֹּ֖אמֶר שַׁלְּחֻ֥נִי לַֽאדֹנִֽי׃
24:54
Then he and the men with him ate and drank, and they spent the night. When they arose next morning, he said, “Give me leave to go to my master.”
24:54
And they did eat and drink, he and the men that were with him, and tarried all night; and they rose up in the morning, and he said: ‘Send me away unto my master.’

וַאֲכָלוּ וּשְׁתִיאוּ הוּא וְגוּבְרַיָּא דִּי עִמֵּיהּ וּבָתוּ וְקָמוּ בְצַפְרָא וַאֲמַר שַׁלְּחוּנִי לְוַת רִבּוֹנִי:
וילינו. כָּל לִינָה שֶׁבַּמִּקְרָא לִינַת לַיְלָה אֶחָד:
כ"ד:נ"ה
וַיֹּ֤אמֶר אָחִ֙יהָ֙ וְאִמָּ֔הּ תֵּשֵׁ֨ב הַנַּעֲרָ֥ אִתָּ֛נוּ יָמִ֖ים א֣וֹ עָשׂ֑וֹר אַחַ֖ר תֵּלֵֽךְ׃
24:55
But her brother and her mother said, “Let the maiden remain with us dLit. “days or ten.”some ten days;-d then you may go.”
24:55
And her brother and her mother said: ‘Let the damsel abide with us a few days, at the least ten; after that she shall go.’
כ"ד:נ"ה
וַאֲמַר אֲחוּהָא וְאִמַּהּ תָּתֵיב עוּלֶמְתָּא עִמָּנָא עִדַּן בְּעִדַּן אוֹ עַשְׂרָא יַרְחִין בָּתַר כֵּן תֵּיזִיל:
ויאמר אחיה ואמה. וּבְתוּאֵל הֵיכָן הָיָה? הָיָה רוֹצֶה לְעַכֵּב וּבָא מַלְאָךְ וֶהֱמִיתוֹ:
ימים. שָׁנָה, כְּמוֹ יָמִים תִּהְיֶה גְאֻלָּתוֹ (ויקרא כ"ה), שֶׁכָּךְ נוֹתְנִין לִבְתוּלָה זְמַן י"ב חֹדֶש לְפַרְנֵס עַצְמָהּ בְּתַכְשִׁיטִים (כתובות נ"ז):
או עשור. י' חֳדָשִׁים; וְאִם תֹּאמַר יָמִים מַמָּשׁ, אֵין דֶּרֶך הַמְבַקְשִׁים לְבַקֵּש דָּבָר מֻעָט, וְאִם לֹא תִּרְצֶה תֵּן לָנוּ מְרֻבֶּה מִזֶּה:
כ"ד:נ"ו
וַיֹּ֤אמֶר אֲלֵהֶם֙ אַל־תְּאַחֲר֣וּ אֹתִ֔י וַֽיהוָ֖ה הִצְלִ֣יחַ דַּרְכִּ֑י שַׁלְּח֕וּנִי וְאֵלְכָ֖ה לַֽאדֹנִֽי׃
24:56
He said to them, “Do not delay me, now that the LORD has made my errand successful. Give me leave that I may go to my master.”
24:56
And he said unto them: ‘Delay me not, seeing the LORD hath prospered my way; send me away that I may go to my master.’
כ"ד:נ"ו
וַאֲמַר לְהוֹן לָא תְאַחֲרוּן יָתִי וַייָ אַצְלַח אָרְחִי שַׁלְּחוּנִי וְאֵיהַךְ לְוַת רִבּוֹנִי:
כ"ד:נ"ז
וַיֹּאמְר֖וּ נִקְרָ֣א לַֽנַּעֲרָ֑ וְנִשְׁאֲלָ֖ה אֶת־פִּֽיהָ׃
24:57
And they said, “Let us call the girl and ask for her reply.”
24:57
And they said: ‘We will call the damsel, and inquire at her mouth.’
כ"ד:נ"ז
וַאֲמַרוּ נִקְרֵי לְעוּלֶמְתָּא וְנִשְׁמָע מַה דְּהִיא אָמְרָה:
ונשאלה את פיה. מִכָּאן שֶׁאֵין מַשִּׂיאִין אֶת הָאִשָּׁה אֶלָּא מִדַּעְתָּהּ (בראשית רבה):
כ"ד:נ"ח
וַיִּקְרְא֤וּ לְרִבְקָה֙ וַיֹּאמְר֣וּ אֵלֶ֔יהָ הֲתֵלְכִ֖י עִם־הָאִ֣ישׁ הַזֶּ֑ה וַתֹּ֖אמֶר אֵלֵֽךְ׃
24:58
They called Rebekah and said to her, “Will you go with this man?” And she said, “I will.”
24:58
And they called Rebekah, and said unto her: ‘Wilt thou go with this man?’ And she said: ‘I will go.’

וּקְרוֹ לְרִבְקָה וַאֲמַרוּ לַהּ הֲתֵיזְלִי עִם גַּבְרָא הָדֵין וַאֲמֶרֶת אֵיזִיל:
ותאמר אלך. מֵעַצְמִי, וְאַף אִם אֵינְכֶם רוֹצִים:
כ"ד:נ"ט
וַֽיְשַׁלְּח֛וּ אֶת־רִבְקָ֥ה אֲחֹתָ֖ם וְאֶת־מֵנִקְתָּ֑הּ וְאֶת־עֶ֥בֶד אַבְרָהָ֖ם וְאֶת־אֲנָשָֽׁיו׃
24:59
So they sent off their sister Rebekah and her nurse along with Abraham’s servant and his men.

And they sent away Rebekah their sister, and her nurse, and Abraham’s servant, and his men.

וְשַׁלְּחוּ יָת רִבְקָה אֲחַתְהוֹן וְיָת מֵנִקְתַּהּ וְיָת עַבְדָּא דְאַבְרָהָם וְיָת גַּבְרוֹהִי:
כ"ד:ס׳
וַיְבָרֲכ֤וּ אֶת־רִבְקָה֙ וַיֹּ֣אמְרוּ לָ֔הּ אֲחֹתֵ֕נוּ אַ֥תְּ הֲיִ֖י לְאַלְפֵ֣י רְבָבָ֑ה וְיִירַ֣שׁ זַרְעֵ֔ךְ אֵ֖ת שַׁ֥עַר שֹׂנְאָֽיו׃
24:60
And they blessed Rebekah and said to her, “O sister! May you grow Into thousands of myriads; May your offspring seize The gates of their foes.”
24:60
And they blessed Rebekah, and said unto her: ‘Our sister, be thou the mother of thousands of ten thousands, and let thy seed possess the gate of those that hate them.’

וּבָרִיכוּ יָת רִבְקָה וַאֲמַרוּ לַהּ אֲחָתָנָא אַתְּ הֲוֵי לְאַלְפִין וּלְרִבְוָן וְיִרְתוּן בְּנַיְכִי יָת קִרְוֵי סַנְאֵיהוֹן:
את היי לאלפי רבבה. אַתְּ וְזַרְעֵךְ תְּקַבְּלוּ אוֹתָהּ בְּרָכָה שֶׁנֶּאֱמַר לְאַבְרָהָם בְּהַר הַמּוֹרִיָּה וְהַרְבָּה אַרְבֶּה אֶת זַרְעֲךָ וגו', יְהִי רָצוֹן שֶׁיְּהֵא אוֹתוֹ הַזֶּרַע מִמֵּךְ וְלֹא מֵאִשָּׁה אַחֶרֶת:

וַתָּ֨קָם רִבְקָ֜ה וְנַעֲרֹתֶ֗יהָ וַתִּרְכַּ֙בְנָה֙ עַל־הַגְּמַלִּ֔ים וַתֵּלַ֖כְנָה אַחֲרֵ֣י הָאִ֑ישׁ וַיִּקַּ֥ח הָעֶ֛בֶד אֶת־רִבְקָ֖ה וַיֵּלַֽךְ׃
24:61
Then Rebekah and her maids arose, mounted the camels, and followed the man. So the servant took Rebekah and went his way.

And Rebekah arose, and her damsels, and they rode upon the camels, and followed the man. And the servant took Rebekah, and went his way.

וְקָמַת רִבְקָה וְעוּלֶמְתָּהָא וּרְכִיבָא עַל גַּמְלַיָּא וַאֲזַלַּת בָּתַר גַּבְרָא וּדְבַר עַבְדָּא יָת רִבְקָה וַאֲזָל:
כ"ד:ס"ב
וְיִצְחָק֙ בָּ֣א מִבּ֔וֹא בְּאֵ֥ר לַחַ֖י רֹאִ֑י וְה֥וּא יוֹשֵׁ֖ב בְּאֶ֥רֶץ הַנֶּֽגֶב׃
24:62
Isaac had just come back from the vicinity of Beer-lahai-roi, for he was settled in the region of the Negeb.

And Isaac came from the way of Beer-lahai-roi; for he dwelt in the land of the South.
כ"ד:ס"ב
וְיִצְחָק אָתָא מִמֵּתוֹהִי (נ"י עַל בְּמֵתוֹהִי) מִבֵּירָא דְמַלְאַךְ קַיָּמָא אִתְחֲזִי עֲלַהּ וְהוּא יָתֵב בַּאֲרַע דָּרוֹמָא:
מבוא באר לחי רואי. שֶׁהָלַךְ לְהָבִיא הָגָר לְאַבְרָהָם אָבִיו שֶׁיִּשָּׂאֶנָּה (בראשית רבה):
יושב בארץ הנגב. קָרוֹב לְאוֹתוֹ בְּאֵר, שֶׁנֶּאֱמַר וַיִּסַּע מִשָּׁם אַבְרָהָם אַרְצָה הַנֶּגֶב וַיֵּשֶׁב בֵּין קָדֵשׁ וּבֵין שׁוּר (בראשית כ') וְשָׁם הָיָה הַבְּאֵר, שֶׁנֶּאֱמַר הִנֵּה בֵין קָדֵשׁ וּבֵין בָּרֶד (שם ט"ז):

וַיֵּצֵ֥א יִצְחָ֛ק לָשׂ֥וּחַ בַּשָּׂדֶ֖ה לִפְנ֣וֹת עָ֑רֶב וַיִּשָּׂ֤א עֵינָיו֙ וַיַּ֔רְא וְהִנֵּ֥ה גְמַלִּ֖ים בָּאִֽים׃
24:63
And Isaac went out walkingeOthers “to meditate”; meaning of Heb. uncertain. in the field toward evening and, looking up, he saw camels approaching.

And Isaac went out to meditate in the field at the eventide; and he lifted up his eyes, and saw, and, behold, there were camels coming.

וּנְפַק יִצְחָק לְצַלָּאָה בְחַקְלָא לְמִפְנֵי רַמְשָׁא וּזְקַף עֵינוֹהִי וַחֲזָא וְהָא גַמְלַיָּא אָתָן:
לשוח. לְשׁוֹן תְּפִלָּה (בראשית רבה), כְּמוֹ יִשְׁפֹּךְ שִׂיחוֹ (תהילים ק"ב):

וַתִּשָּׂ֤א רִבְקָה֙ אֶת־עֵינֶ֔יהָ וַתֵּ֖רֶא אֶת־יִצְחָ֑ק וַתִּפֹּ֖ל מֵעַ֥ל הַגָּמָֽל׃
24:64
Raising her eyes, Rebekah saw Isaac. She alighted from the camel

And Rebekah lifted up her eyes, and when she saw Isaac, she alighted from the camel.
כ"ד:ס"ד
וּזְקָפַת רִבְקָה יָת עֵינָהָא וַחֲזַת יָת יִצְחָק וְאִתְרְכִינַת מֵעַל גַּמְלָא:
ותרא את יצחק. רָאֲתָה אוֹתוֹ הָדוּר וְתוֹהָא מִפָּנָיו (בראשית רבה):
ותפל. הִשְׁמִיטָה עַצְמָהּ לָאָרֶץ, כְּתַרְגּוּמוֹ וְאִתְרְכִינַת, הִטְּתָה עַצְמָהּ לָאָרֶץ וְלֹא הִגִּיעָה עַד הַקַּרְקַע, כְּמוֹ הַטִּי נָא כַדֵּךְ, אַרְכִינִי, וַיֵּט שָׁמַיִם (תהילים י"ח), וְאַרְכִּין, לְשׁוֹן מֻטֶּה לָאָרֶץ, וְדוֹמֶה לוֹ כִּי יִפֹּל לֹא יוּטָל (תהילים ל"ז), כְּלוֹמַר אִם יִטֶּה לָאָרֶץ לֹא יַגִּיעַ עַד הַקַּרְקַע:

וַתֹּ֣אמֶר אֶל־הָעֶ֗בֶד מִֽי־הָאִ֤ישׁ הַלָּזֶה֙ הַהֹלֵ֤ךְ בַּשָּׂדֶה֙ לִקְרָאתֵ֔נוּ וַיֹּ֥אמֶר הָעֶ֖בֶד ה֣וּא אֲדֹנִ֑י וַתִּקַּ֥ח הַצָּעִ֖יף וַתִּתְכָּֽס׃
24:65
and said to the servant, “Who is that man walking in the field toward us?” And the servant said, “That is my master.” So she took her veil and covered herself.
24:65
And she said unto the servant: ‘What man is this that walketh in the field to meet us?’ And the servant said: ‘It is my master.’ And she took her veil, and covered herself.

וַאֲמֶרֶת לְעַבְדָּא מָן גַּבְרָא דֵיכִי דִּמְהַלֵּךְ בְּחַקְלָא לְקַדָּמוּתָנָא וַאֲמַר עַבְדָּא הוּא רִבּוֹנִי וּנְסֵיבַת עֵיפָא וְאִתְכַּסִּיאַת:
ותתכס. לְשׁוֹן וַתִּתְפַּעֵל, כְּמוֹ וַתִּקָּבֵר וַתִּשָּׁבֵר:
כ"ד:ס"ו
וַיְסַפֵּ֥ר הָעֶ֖בֶד לְיִצְחָ֑ק אֵ֥ת כָּל־הַדְּבָרִ֖ים אֲשֶׁ֥ר עָשָֽׂה׃
24:66
The servant told Isaac all the things that he had done.

וְאִשְׁתָּעֵי עַבְדָּא לְיִצְחָק יָת כָּל פִּתְגָּמַיָּא דִּי עֲבָד:
ויספר העבד. גִּלָּה לוֹ נִסִּים שֶׁנַּעֲשׂוּ לוֹ, שֶׁקָּפְצָה לוֹ הָאָרֶץ וְשֶׁנִּזְדַּמְּנָה לוֹ רִבְקָה בִּתְּפִלָּתוֹ (בראשית רבה):

וַיְבִאֶ֣הָ יִצְחָ֗ק הָאֹ֙הֱלָה֙ שָׂרָ֣ה אִמּ֔וֹ וַיִּקַּ֧ח אֶת־רִבְקָ֛ה וַתְּהִי־ל֥וֹ לְאִשָּׁ֖ה וַיֶּאֱהָבֶ֑הָ וַיִּנָּחֵ֥ם יִצְחָ֖ק אַחֲרֵ֥י אִמּֽוֹ׃ (פ)
24:67
Isaac then brought her into the tent of his mother Sarah, and he took Rebekah as his wife. Isaac loved her, and thus found comfort after his mother’s death.
24:67
And Isaac brought her into his mother Sarah’s tent, and took Rebekah, and she became his wife; and he loved her. And Isaac was comforted for his mother.

וְאַעֲלַהּ יִצְחָק לְמַשְׁכְּנָא וַחֲזָא וְהָא תַקְּנִין עוֹבָדָהָא כְּעוֹבָדֵי שָׂרָה אִמֵּיהּ וּנְסֵיב יָת רִבְקָה וַהֲוַת לֵיהּ לְאִנְתּוּ וּרְחִימַהּ וְאִתְנְחֵם יִצְחָק בָּתַר דְּמִיתַת אִמֵּיהּ:
האהלה שרה אמו. וַיְבִיאֶהָ הָאֹהֱלָה וְנַעֲשֵׂית דֻּגְמַת שָׂרָה אִמּוֹ, כְּלוֹמַר וַהֲרֵי הִיא שָׂרָה אִמּוֹ, שֶׁכָּל זְמַן שֶׁשָּׂרָה קַיֶּמֶת הָיָה נֵר דָּלוּק מֵעֶרֶב שַׁבָּת לְעֶרֶב שַׁבָּת וּבְרָכָה מְצוּיָה בָּעִסָּה וְעָנָן קָשׁוּר עַל הָאֹהֶל, וּמִשֶּׁמֵּתָה פָּסְקוּ, וּכְשֶׁבָּאת רִבְקָה חָזְרוּ (בראשית רבה):
אחרי אמו. דֶּרֶךְ אֶרֶץ כָּל זְמַן שֶׁאִמּוֹ שֶׁל אָדָם קַיֶּמֶת, כָּרוּךְ הוּא אֶצְלָהּ; וּמִשֶּׁמֵּתָה, הוּא מִתְנַחֵם בְּאִשְׁתּוֹ:
