מ׳:י"ז וַיְהִ֞י בַּחֹ֧דֶשׁ הָרִאשׁ֛וֹן בַּשָּׁנָ֥ה הַשֵּׁנִ֖ית בְּאֶחָ֣ד לַחֹ֑דֶשׁ הוּקַ֖ם הַמִּשְׁכָּֽן׃

40:17 In the first month of the second year, on the first of the month, the Tabernacle was set up.

40:17 And it came to pass in the first month in the second year, on the first day of the month, that the tabernacle was reared up.

מ׳:י"ז וַהֲוָה בְּיַרְחָא קַדְמָאָה בְּשַׁתָּא תִנְיֵתָא בְּחַד לְיַרְחָא אִתָּקַם מַשְׁכְּנָא:

מ׳:י"ח וַיָּ֨קֶם מֹשֶׁ֜ה אֶת־הַמִּשְׁכָּ֗ן וַיִּתֵּן֙ אֶת־אֲדָנָ֔יו וַיָּ֙שֶׂם֙ אֶת־קְרָשָׁ֔יו וַיִּתֵּ֖ן אֶת־בְּרִיחָ֑יו וַיָּ֖קֶם אֶת־עַמּוּדָֽיו׃

40:18 Moses set up the Tabernacle, placing its sockets, setting up its planks, inserting its bars, and erecting its posts.

40:18 And Moses reared up the tabernacle, and laid its sockets, and set up the boards thereof, and put in the bars thereof, and reared up its pillars.

מ׳:י"ח וַאֲקֵם משֶׁה יָת מַשְׁכְּנָא וִיהַב יָת סַמְּכוֹהִי וְשַׁוִּי יָת דַּפּוֹהִי וִיהַב יָת עַבְרוֹהִי וַאֲקֵם יָת עַמּוּדוֹהִי:

מ׳:י"ט וַיִּפְרֹ֤שׂ אֶת־הָאֹ֙הֶל֙ עַל־הַמִּשְׁכָּ֔ן וַיָּ֜שֶׂם אֶת־מִכְסֵ֥ה הָאֹ֛הֶל עָלָ֖יו מִלְמָ֑עְלָה כַּאֲשֶׁ֛ר צִוָּ֥ה יְהוָ֖ה אֶת־מֹשֶֽׁה׃ (ס)

40:19 He spread the tent over the Tabernacle, placing the covering of the tent on top of it—just as the LORD had commanded Moses.

40:19 And he spread the tent over the tabernacle, and put the covering of the tent above upon it; as the LORD commanded Moses.

מ׳:י"ט וּפְרַס יָת פְּרָסָא עַל מַשְׁכְּנָא וְשַׁוִּי יָת חוֹפָאָה דְמַשְׁכְּנָא עֲלוֹהִי מִלְּעֵלָּא כְּמָא דִי פַּקִּיד יְיָ יָת משֶׁה:

ויפרש את האהל. הֵן יְרִיעוֹת הָעִזִּים:

מ׳:י"ט אור החיים

1כַּאֲשֶׁר צִוָּה ה׳ אֶת מֹשֶׁה. הֻצְרַךְ לוֹמַר אֶת מֹשֶׁה וְלֹא הִסְפִּיק לוֹמַר ״כַּאֲשֶׁר צִוָּה ה׳״ וְהַדָּבָר יָדוּעַ כִּי אוֹתוֹ צִוָּה ה׳? כַּוָּנַת הַכָּתוּב הוּא לְהוֹדִיעַ שֶׁהַתּוֹרָה מְעִידָה עַל הַמַּעֲשֶׂה שֶׁלֹּא הָיָה בּוֹ שִׁנּוּי מֵהַמִּצְוָה, וְשִׁעוּר אָמְרוֹ ״כַּאֲשֶׁר״ הוּא עַל גּוּפוֹ שֶׁל מַעֲשֶׂה, וְאִם הָיָה אוֹמֵר ״כַּאֲשֶׁר צִוָּהוּ ה׳״ הָיָה בְּנִשְׁמָע שֶׁחוֹזֵר עַל הָעוֹשֶׂה שֶׁעָשָׂה כַּאֲשֶׁר צִוָּהוּ, וְהָבֵן. וְטַעַם כֶּפֶל הַדָּבָר בְּכָל פְּרָט וּפְרָט, לְהַרְאוֹת שֶׁכָּל פְּרָט הוּא חָשׁוּב מִצְוָה בִּפְנֵי עַצְמוֹ וְרָאוּי לֵיאָמֵר עָלָיו לְבַדּוֹ ״צִוָּה ה׳ אֶת מֹשֶׁה״.

כאשר צוה ה׳ את משה, as G'd had commanded Moses. Why did the Torah have to add the words את משה? Did we not know whom G'd had commanded to erect the Tabernacle? The Torah merely wanted to inform us that when it came to executing G'd's command there was no deviation. If the Torah had omitted mention of Moses' name, I might have understood the words "as G'd commanded him," as referring to the respective person who had made the various parts of the Tabernacle. The reason we find that the Torah repeats itself when writing "as G'd had commanded Moses," is to teach us that the putting in its place of every single part of the Tabernacle was considered as a commandment by itself and the Torah could have testified separately concerning each part that it had been placed where it was in accordance with G'd's instructions.

מ׳:כ׳ וַיִּקַּ֞ח וַיִּתֵּ֤ן אֶת־הָעֵדֻת֙ אֶל־הָ֣אָרֹ֔ן וַיָּ֥שֶׂם אֶת־הַבַּדִּ֖ים עַל־הָאָרֹ֑ן וַיִּתֵּ֧ן אֶת־הַכַּפֹּ֛רֶת עַל־הָאָרֹ֖ן מִלְמָֽעְלָה׃

40:20 He took the Pact and placed it in the ark; he fixed the poles to the ark, placed the cover on top of the ark,

40:20 And he took and put the testimony into the ark, and set the staves on the ark, and put the ark-cover above upon the ark.

מ׳:כ׳ וּנְסִיב וִיהַב יָת סַהֲדוּתָא לַאֲרוֹנָא וְשַׁוִּי יָת אֲרִיחַיָּא עַל אֲרוֹנָא וִיהַב יָת כַּפֻּרְתָּא עַל אֲרוֹנָא מִלְעֵלָּא:

את העדת. הַלּוּחוֹת:

מ׳:כ"א וַיָּבֵ֣א אֶת־הָאָרֹן֮ אֶל־הַמִּשְׁכָּן֒ וַיָּ֗שֶׂם אֵ֚ת פָּרֹ֣כֶת הַמָּסָ֔ךְ וַיָּ֕סֶךְ עַ֖ל אֲר֣וֹן הָעֵד֑וּת כַּאֲשֶׁ֛ר צִוָּ֥ה יְהוָ֖ה אֶת־מֹשֶֽׁה׃ (ס)

40:21 and brought the ark inside the Tabernacle. Then he put up the curtain for screening, and screened off the Ark of the Pact—just as the LORD had commanded Moses.

40:21 And he brought the ark into the tabernacle, and set up the veil of the screen, and screened the ark of the testimony; as the LORD commanded Moses.

מ׳:כ"א וְאָעֵל יָת אֲרוֹנָא לְמַשְׁכְּנָא וְשַׁוִּי יָת פָּרֻכְתָּא דִפְרָסָא וְאַטֵּל עַל אֲרוֹנָא דְסַהֲדוּתָא כְּמָא דִי פַּקִּיד יְיָ יָת משֶׁה:

מ׳:כ"ב וַיִּתֵּ֤ן אֶת־הַשֻּׁלְחָן֙ בְּאֹ֣הֶל מוֹעֵ֔ד עַ֛ל יֶ֥רֶךְ הַמִּשְׁכָּ֖ן צָפֹ֑נָה מִח֖וּץ לַפָּרֹֽכֶת׃

40:22 He placed the table in the Tent of Meeting, outside the curtain, on the north side of the Tabernacle.

40:22 And he put the table in the tent of meeting, upon the side of the tabernacle northward, without the veil.

מ׳:כ"ב וִיהַב יָת פָּתוֹרָא בְּמַשְׁכַּן זִמְנָא עַל צִדָּא דְמַשְׁכְּנָא צִפּוּנָא מִבָּרָא לְפָרֻכְתָּא:

על ירך המשכן צפנה. בַּחֵצִי הַצְּפוֹנִי שֶׁל רֹחַב הַבַּיִת:

ירך. כְּתַרְגּוּמוֹ, צִדָּא, כַּיָּרֵךְ הַזֶּה שֶׁהוּא בְּצִדּוֹ שֶׁל אָדָם:

מ׳:כ"ג וַיַּעֲרֹ֥ךְ עָלָ֛יו עֵ֥רֶךְ לֶ֖חֶם לִפְנֵ֣י יְהוָ֑ה כַּאֲשֶׁ֛ר צִוָּ֥ה יְהוָ֖ה אֶת־מֹשֶֽׁה׃ (ס)

40:23 Upon it he laid out the setting of bread before the LORD—as the LORD had commanded Moses.

40:23 And he set a row of bread in order upon it before the LORD; as the LORD commanded Moses.

מ׳:כ"ג וְסַדַּר עֲלוֹהִי סִדּוּר דִּלְחֵם קֳדָם יְיָ כְּמָא דִי פַּקִּיד יְיָ יָת משֶׁה:

מ׳:כ"ד וַיָּ֤שֶׂם אֶת־הַמְּנֹרָה֙ בְּאֹ֣הֶל מוֹעֵ֔ד נֹ֖כַח הַשֻּׁלְחָ֑ן עַ֛ל יֶ֥רֶךְ הַמִּשְׁכָּ֖ן נֶֽגְבָּה׃

40:24 He placed the lampstand in the Tent of Meeting opposite the table, on the south side of the Tabernacle.

40:24 And he put the candlestick in the tent of meeting, over against the table, on the side of the tabernacle southward.

מ׳:כ"ד וְשַׁוִּי יָת מְנַרְתָּא בְּמַשְׁכַּן זִמְנָא לָקֳבֵל פָּתוֹרָא עַל צִדָּא דְמַשְׁכְּנָא לְדָרוֹמָא:

מ׳:כ"ה וַיַּ֥עַל הַנֵּרֹ֖ת לִפְנֵ֣י יְהוָ֑ה כַּאֲשֶׁ֛ר צִוָּ֥ה יְהוָ֖ה אֶת־מֹשֶֽׁה׃ (ס)

40:25 And he lit the lamps before the LORD—as the LORD had commanded Moses.

40:25 And he lighted the lamps before the LORD; as the LORD commanded Moses.

מ׳:כ"ה וְאַדְלֵק בּוֹצִינָהָא קֳדָם יְיָ כְּמָא דִי פַּקִּיד יְיָ יָת משֶׁה:

מ׳:כ"ו וַיָּ֛שֶׂם אֶת־מִזְבַּ֥ח הַזָּהָ֖ב בְּאֹ֣הֶל מוֹעֵ֑ד לִפְנֵ֖י הַפָּרֹֽכֶת׃

40:26 He placed the altar of gold in the Tent of Meeting, before the curtain.

40:26 And he put the golden altar in the tent of meeting before the veil;

מ׳:כ"ו וְשַׁוִּי יָת מַדְבְּחָא דְדַהֲבָא בְּמַשְׁכַּן זִמְנָא קֳדָם פָּרֻכְתָּא:

מ׳:כ"ז וַיַּקְטֵ֥ר עָלָ֖יו קְטֹ֣רֶת סַמִּ֑ים כַּאֲשֶׁ֛ר צִוָּ֥ה יְהוָ֖ה אֶת־מֹשֶֽׁה׃ (פ)

40:27 On it he burned aromatic incense—as the LORD had commanded Moses.

40:27 and he burnt thereon incense of sweet spices; as the LORD commanded Moses.

מ׳:כ"ז וְאַקְטַר עֲלוֹהִי קְטֹרֶת בּוּסְמִין כְּמָא דִי פַּקִּיד יְיָ יָת משֶׁה:

ויקטר עליו קטרת. שַׁחֲרִית וְעַרְבִית, כְּמוֹ שֶׁנֶּאֱמַר בַּבֹּקֶר בַּבֹּקֶר בְּהֵיטִיבוֹ אֶת הַנֵּרוֹת וְגוֹמֵר (שמות ל'):
