ז׳:א׳
וַיֹּ֤אמֶר יְהוָה֙ לְנֹ֔חַ בֹּֽא־אַתָּ֥ה וְכָל־בֵּיתְךָ֖ אֶל־הַתֵּבָ֑ה כִּֽי־אֹתְךָ֥ רָאִ֛יתִי צַדִּ֥יק לְפָנַ֖י בַּדּ֥וֹר הַזֶּֽה׃
7:1
Then the LORD said to Noah, “Go into the ark, with all your household, for you alone have I found righteous before Me in this generation.
7:1
And the LORD said unto Noah: ‘Come thou and all thy house into the ark; for thee have I seen righteous before Me in this generation.
ז׳:א׳
וַאֲמַר יְיָ לְנֹחַ עוּל אַתְּ וְכָל אֱנַשׁ בֵּיתָךְ לְתֵבוֹתָא אֲרֵי יָתָךְ חֲזֵיתִי זַכַּאי קֳדָמַי בְּדָרָא הָדֵין:
ראיתי צדיק. וְלֹא נֶאֱמַר צַדִּיק תָּמִים, מִכָּאן שֶׁאוֹמְרִים מִקְצַת שִׁבְחוֹ שֶׁל אָדָם בְּפָנָיו וְכֻלּוֹ שֶׁלֹּא בְּפָנָיו (ב"ר):
ז׳:ב׳
מִכֹּ֣ל ׀ הַבְּהֵמָ֣ה הַטְּהוֹרָ֗ה תִּֽקַּח־לְךָ֛ שִׁבְעָ֥ה שִׁבְעָ֖ה אִ֣ישׁ וְאִשְׁתּ֑וֹ וּמִן־הַבְּהֵמָ֡ה אֲ֠שֶׁר לֹ֣א טְהֹרָ֥ה הִ֛וא שְׁנַ֖יִם אִ֥ישׁ וְאִשְׁתּֽוֹ׃
7:2
Of every clean animal you shall take seven pairs, males and their mates, and of every animal that is not clean, two, a male and its mate;

Of every clean beast thou shalt take to thee seven and seven, each with his mate; and of the beasts that are not clean two [and two], each with his mate;
ז׳:ב׳
מִכֹּל בְּעִירָא דַכְיָא תִּסַּב לָךְ שַׁבְעָא שַׁבְעָא דְּכַר וְנָקְבָּא וּמִן בְּעִירָא דִּלָא (אִיתָהָא) דַכְיָא הִיא תְּרֵין דְּכַר וְנָקְבָּא:
הטהורה. הָעֲתִידָה לִהְיוֹת טְהוֹרָה לְיִשְׂרָאֵל; לָמַדְנוּ שֶׁלָּמַד נֹחַ תּוֹרָה (שם פ' כ"ו):
שבעה שבעה. כְּדֵי שֶׁיַּקְרִיב מֵהֶם קָרְבָּן בְּצֵאתוֹ:
ז׳:ג׳
גַּ֣ם מֵע֧וֹף הַשָּׁמַ֛יִם שִׁבְעָ֥ה שִׁבְעָ֖ה זָכָ֣ר וּנְקֵבָ֑ה לְחַיּ֥וֹת זֶ֖רַע עַל־פְּנֵ֥י כָל־הָאָֽרֶץ׃
7:3
of the birds of the sky also, seven pairs, male and female, to keep seed alive upon all the earth.

of the fowl also of the air, seven and seven, male and female; to keep seed alive upon the face of all the earth.
ז׳:ג׳
אַף מֵעוֹפָא דִשְׁמַיָּא שַׁבְעָא שַׁבְעָא דְּכַר וְנָקְבָּא לְקַיָּמָא זַרְעָא עַל אַפֵּי כָל אַרְעָא:
גם מעוף השמים וגו'. בִּטְהוֹרִים הַכָּתוּב מְדַבֵּר, וְלָמַד סָתוּם מִן הַמְפֹרָשׁ:
ז׳:ד׳
כִּי֩ לְיָמִ֨ים ע֜וֹד שִׁבְעָ֗ה אָֽנֹכִי֙ מַמְטִ֣יר עַל־הָאָ֔רֶץ אַרְבָּעִ֣ים י֔וֹם וְאַרְבָּעִ֖ים לָ֑יְלָה וּמָחִ֗יתִי אֶֽת־כָּל־הַיְקוּם֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר עָשִׂ֔יתִי מֵעַ֖ל פְּנֵ֥י הָֽאֲדָמָֽה׃
7:4
For in seven days’ time I will make it rain upon the earth, forty days and forty nights, and I will blot out from the earth all existence that I created.”
7:4
For yet seven days, and I will cause it to rain upon the earth forty days and forty nights; and every living substance that I have made will I blot out from off the face of the earth.’
ז׳:ד׳
אֲרֵי לִזְמַן יוֹמִין עוֹד שַׁבְעָא אֲנָא מָחֵת מִטְרָא עַל אַרְעָא אַרְבְּעִין יְמָמִין וְאַרְבְּעִין לֵילָוָן וְאֶמְחֵי יָת כָּל יְקוּמָא דִי עַבְדַת מֵעַל אַפֵּי אַרְעָא:
כי לימים עוד שבעה. אֵלּוּ ז' יְמֵי אֶבְלוֹ שֶׁל מְתוּשֶׁלַח הַצַּדִּיק שֶׁחָס הַקָּבָּ"ה עַל כְּבוֹדוֹ וְעִכֵּב אֶת הַפֻּרְעָנוּת. צֵא וַחֲשֹׁב שְׁנוֹתָיו שֶׁל מְתוּשֶׁלַח וְתִמְצָא שֶׁהֵם כָּלִים בִּשְנַת ת"ר שָׁנָה לְחַיֵּי נֹחַ (סנה' ק"ח):
כי לימים עוד. מַהוּ עוֹד? זְמַן אַחַר זְמַן זֶה נוֹסָף עַל ק"כ שָׁנָה:
ארבעים יום. כְּנֶגֶד יְצִירַת הַוָּלָד, שֶׁקִּלְקְלוּ לְהַטְרִיחַ לְיוֹצְרָם לָצוּר צוּרַת מַמְזֵרִים:
ז׳:ה׳
וַיַּ֖עַשׂ נֹ֑חַ כְּכֹ֥ל אֲשֶׁר־צִוָּ֖הוּ יְהוָֽה׃
7:5
And Noah did just as the LORD commanded him.

And Noah did according unto all that the LORD commanded him.
ז׳:ה׳
וַעֲבַד נֹחַ כְּכֹל דִּי פַקְּדֵיהּ יְיָ:
ויעש נח. זֶה בִיאָתוֹ לַתֵּבָה:
ז׳:ו׳
וְנֹ֕חַ בֶּן־שֵׁ֥שׁ מֵא֖וֹת שָׁנָ֑ה וְהַמַּבּ֣וּל הָיָ֔ה מַ֖יִם עַל־הָאָֽרֶץ׃
7:6
Noah was six hundred years old when the Flood came, waters upon the earth.

And Noah was six hundred years old when the flood of waters was upon the earth.
ז׳:ו׳
וְנֹחַ בַּר שִׁתְּ מְאָה שְׁנִין וְטוֹפָנָא הֲוָה מַיָּא עַל אַרְעָא:
ז׳:ז׳
וַיָּ֣בֹא נֹ֗חַ וּ֠בָנָיו וְאִשְׁתּ֧וֹ וּנְשֵֽׁי־בָנָ֛יו אִתּ֖וֹ אֶל־הַתֵּבָ֑ה מִפְּנֵ֖י מֵ֥י הַמַּבּֽוּל׃
7:7
Noah, with his sons, his wife, and his sons’ wives, went into the ark because of the waters of the Flood.
7:7
And Noah went in, and his sons, and his wife, and his sons’ wives with him, into the ark, before the waters of the flood.
ז׳:ז׳
וְעָאל נֹחַ וּבְנוֹהִי וְאִתְּתֵיהּ וּנְשֵׁי בְנוֹהִי עִמֵּיהּ לְתֵבוֹתָא מִן קֳדָם מֵי טוֹפָנָא:
נח ובניו. הָאֲנָשִׁים לְבַד וְהַנָּשִׁים לְבַד, לְפִי שֶׁנֶּאֱסְרוּ בְּתַשְׁמִישׁ הַמִּטָּה מִפְּנֵי שֶׁהָעוֹלָם שָׁרוּי בְּצַעַר:
מפני מי המבול. אַף נֹחַ מִקְּטַנֵּי אֲמָנָה הָיָה, מַאֲמִין וְאֵינוֹ מַאֲמִין שֶׁיָבֹא הַמַּבּוּל, וְלֹא נִכְנַס לַתֵּבָה עַד שֶׁדְּחָקוּהוּ הַמַּיִם:
ז׳:ח׳
מִן־הַבְּהֵמָה֙ הַטְּהוֹרָ֔ה וּמִן־הַ֨בְּהֵמָ֔ה אֲשֶׁ֥ר אֵינֶ֖נָּה טְהֹרָ֑ה וּמִ֨ן־הָע֔וֹף וְכֹ֥ל אֲשֶׁר־רֹמֵ֖שׂ עַל־הָֽאֲדָמָֽה׃
7:8
Of the clean animals, of the animals that are not clean, of the birds, and of everything that creeps on the ground,

Of clean beasts, and of beasts that are not clean, and of fowls, and of every thing that creepeth upon the ground,
ז׳:ח׳
מִן בְּעִירָא דַּכְיָא וּמִן בְּעִירָא דִּי לֵיתָהָא דַּכְיָא וּמִן עוֹפָא וְכֹל דִּי רָחֵשׁ עַל אַרְעָא:
ז׳:ט׳
שְׁנַ֨יִם שְׁנַ֜יִם בָּ֧אוּ אֶל־נֹ֛חַ אֶל־הַתֵּבָ֖ה זָכָ֣ר וּנְקֵבָ֑ה כַּֽאֲשֶׁ֛ר צִוָּ֥ה אֱלֹהִ֖ים אֶת־נֹֽחַ׃
7:9
two of each, male and female, came to Noah into the ark, as God had commanded Noah.

there went in two and two unto Noah into the ark, male and female, as God commanded Noah.
ז׳:ט׳
תְּרֵין תְּרֵין עַלּוּ לְוַת נֹחַ לְתֵבוֹתָא דְּכַר וְנָקְבָּא כְּמָא דִי פַקֵּיד יְיָ יָת נֹחַ:
שנים שנים. כֻּלָם הֻשְׁווּ בְּמִנְיָן זֶה – מִן הַפָּחוּת הָיוּ שְׁנַיִם:
באו אל נח. מֵאֵלֵיהֶן:
ז׳:י׳
וַֽיְהִ֖י לְשִׁבְעַ֣ת הַיָּמִ֑ים וּמֵ֣י הַמַּבּ֔וּל הָי֖וּ עַל־הָאָֽרֶץ׃
7:10
And on the seventh day the waters of the Flood came upon the earth.
7:10
And it came to pass after the seven days, that the waters of the flood were upon the earth.
ז׳:י׳
וַהֲוָה לִזְמַן שִׁבְעַת יוֹמִין וּמֵי טוֹפָנָא הֲווֹ עַל אַרְעָא:
ז׳:י"א
בִּשְׁנַ֨ת שֵׁשׁ־מֵא֤וֹת שָׁנָה֙ לְחַיֵּי־נֹ֔חַ בַּחֹ֙דֶשׁ֙ הַשֵּׁנִ֔י בְּשִׁבְעָֽה־עָשָׂ֥ר י֖וֹם לַחֹ֑דֶשׁ בַּיּ֣וֹם הַזֶּ֗ה נִבְקְעוּ֙ כָּֽל־מַעְיְנֹת֙ תְּה֣וֹם רַבָּ֔ה וַאֲרֻבֹּ֥ת הַשָּׁמַ֖יִם נִפְתָּֽחוּ׃
7:11
In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, in the second month, on the seventeenth day of the month, on that day All the fountains of the great deep burst apart, And the floodgates of the sky broke open.

In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, in the second month, on the seventeenth day of the month, on the same day were all the fountains of the great deep broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened.
ז׳:י"א
בִּשְׁנַת שִׁתְּ מְאָה שְׁנִין לְחַיֵּי נֹחַ בְּיַרְחָא תִּנְיָנָא בְּשִׁבְעַת עַשְׂרָא יוֹמָא לְיַרְחָא בְּיוֹמָא הָדֵין אִתְבְּזָעוּ כָּל מַבּוּעֵי תְּהוֹמָא רַבָּא וְכַוֵּי שְׁמַיָּא אִתְפַּתָּחוּ:
בחודש השני. רַבִּי אֱלִיעֶזֶר אוֹמֵר זֶה מַרְחֶשְׁוָן; רַבִּי יְהוֹשֻׁעַ אוֹמֵר זֶה אִיָּר (ר"ה י"א):
נבקעו. לְהוֹצִיא מֵימֵיהֶן:
תהום רבה. מִדָּה כְנֶגֶד מִדָּה, הֵם חָטְאוּ בְּרַבָּה רָעַת הָאָדָם וְלָקוּ בִּתְהוֹם רַבָּה:
ז׳:י"ב
וַֽיְהִ֥י הַגֶּ֖שֶׁם עַל־הָאָ֑רֶץ אַרְבָּעִ֣ים י֔וֹם וְאַרְבָּעִ֖ים לָֽיְלָה׃
7:12
(The rain fell on the earth forty days and forty nights.)

And the rain was upon the earth forty days and forty nights.
ז׳:י"ב
וַהֲוָה מִטְרָא נָחַת עַל אַרְעָא אַרְבְּעִין יְמָמִין וְאַרְבְּעִין לֵילָוָן:
ויהי הגשם על הארץ. וּלְהַלָּן הוּא אוֹמֵר וַיְהִי הַמַּבּוּל? אֶלָּא כְּשֶׁהוֹרִידָן הוֹרִידָן בְּרַחֲמִים, שֶׁאִם יַחְזְרוּ יִהְיוּ גִּשְׁמֵי בְרָכָה; כְּשֶׁלֹּא חָזְרוּ הָיוּ לְמַבּוּל:
ארבעים יום וגו'. אֵין יוֹם רִאשׁוֹן מִן הַמִּנְיָן, לְפִי שֶׁאֵין לֵילוֹ עִמּוֹ שֶׁהֲרֵי כְתִיב בַּיּוֹם הַזֶּה נִבְקְעוּ כָּל מַעְיְנֹת, נִמְצְאוּ אַרְבָּעִים יוֹם כָּלִים בְּכ"ח בְּכִסְלֵו לְרַבִּי אֱלִיעֱזֶר, שֶׁהַחֳדָשִׁים נִמְנִין כְּסִדְרָן אֶחָד מָלֵא וְאֶחָד חָסֵר, הֲרֵי י"ב מִמַּרְחֶשְׁוָן וְכ"ח מִכִּסְלֵו:
ז׳:י"ג
בְּעֶ֨צֶם הַיּ֤וֹם הַזֶּה֙ בָּ֣א נֹ֔חַ וְשֵׁם־וְחָ֥ם וָיֶ֖פֶת בְּנֵי־נֹ֑חַ וְאֵ֣שֶׁת נֹ֗חַ וּשְׁלֹ֧שֶׁת נְשֵֽׁי־בָנָ֛יו אִתָּ֖ם אֶל־הַתֵּבָֽה׃
7:13
That same day Noah and Noah’s sons, Shem, Ham, and Japheth, went into the ark, with Noah’s wife and the three wives of his sons—

In the selfsame day entered Noah, and Shem, and Ham, and Japheth, the sons of Noah, and Noah’s wife, and the three wives of his sons with them, into the ark;
ז׳:י"ג
בִּכְרַן יוֹמָא הָדֵין עָל נֹחַ וְשֵׁם וְחָם וָיֶפֶת בְּנֵי נֹחַ וְאִתַּת נֹחַ וּתְלָתָא נְשֵׁי בְנוֹהִי עִמְּהוֹן לְתֵבוֹתָא:
בעצם היום הזה. לִמֶּדְךָ הַכָּתוּב שֶׁהָיוּ בְנֵי דוֹרוֹ אוֹמְרִים אִלּוּ אָנוּ רוֹאִים אוֹתוֹ נִכְנָס לַתֵּבָה, אָנוּ שׁוֹבְרִין אוֹתָהּ וְהוֹרְגִין אוֹתוֹ, אָמַר הַקָּבָּ"ה אֲנִי מַכְנִיסוֹ לְעֵינֵי כֻלָּם וְנִרְאֶה דְבַר מִי יָקוּם:
ז׳:י"ד
הֵ֜מָּה וְכָל־הַֽחַיָּ֣ה לְמִינָ֗הּ וְכָל־הַבְּהֵמָה֙ לְמִינָ֔הּ וְכָל־הָרֶ֛מֶשׂ הָרֹמֵ֥שׂ עַל־הָאָ֖רֶץ לְמִינֵ֑הוּ וְכָל־הָע֣וֹף לְמִינֵ֔הוּ כֹּ֖ל צִפּ֥וֹר כָּל־כָּנָֽף׃
7:14
they and all beasts of every kind, all cattle of every kind, all creatures of every kind that creep on the earth, and all birds of every kind, every bird, every winged thing.

they, and every beast after its kind, and all the cattle after their kind, and every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth after its kind, and every fowl after its kind, every bird of every sort.
ז׳:י"ד
אִנּוּן וְכָל חַיְתָא לִזְנַהּ וְכָל בְּעִירָא לִזְנַהּ וְכָל רִחֲשָׁא דְּרָחֵשׁ עַל אַרְעָא לִזְנוֹהִי וְכָל עוֹפָא לִזְנוֹהִי כֹּל צִפַּר כָּל דְּפָרָח:
צפור כל כנף. דָבוּק הוּא, צִפּוֹר שֶׁל כָּל מִין כָּנָף, לְרַבּוֹת חֲגָבִים (כָּנָף לְשׁוֹן נוֹצָה, כְּמוֹ וְשִׁסַּע אֹתוֹ בִכְנָפָיו, שֶׁאֲפִלּוּ נוֹצָתָהּ עוֹלָה, אַף כָּאן צִפּוֹר כָּל מִין מַרְאִית נוֹצָה):
ז׳:ט"ו
וַיָּבֹ֥אוּ אֶל־נֹ֖חַ אֶל־הַתֵּבָ֑ה שְׁנַ֤יִם שְׁנַ֙יִם֙ מִכָּל־הַבָּשָׂ֔ר אֲשֶׁר־בּ֖וֹ ר֥וּחַ חַיִּֽים׃
7:15
They came to Noah into the ark, two each of all flesh in which there was breath of life.
7:15
And they went in unto Noah into the ark, two and two of all flesh wherein is the breath of life.
ז׳:ט"ו
וְעַלּוּ עִם נֹחַ לְתֵבוֹתָא תְּרֵין תְּרֵין מִכָּל בִּשְׂרָא דִי בֵיהּ רוּחָא דְחַיֵי:
ז׳:ט"ז
וְהַבָּאִ֗ים זָכָ֨ר וּנְקֵבָ֤ה מִכָּל־בָּשָׂר֙ בָּ֔אוּ כַּֽאֲשֶׁ֛ר צִוָּ֥ה אֹת֖וֹ אֱלֹהִ֑ים וַיִּסְגֹּ֥ר יְהוָ֖ה בַּֽעֲדֽוֹ׃
7:16
Thus they that entered comprised male and female of all flesh, as God had commanded him. And the LORD shut him in.

ז׳:ט"ז
וְעָלַיָּא דְּכַר וְנָקְבָּא מִכָּל בִּשְׂרָא עַלּוּ כְּמָא דִי פַקֵּיד יָתֵיהּ יְיָ וַאֲגֵן יְיָ (בְּמֵימְרֵיהּ) עֲלוֹהִי:
ויסגור ה' בעדו. הֵגֵן עָלָיו שֶׁלֹּא יִשְׁבְּרוּהָ, הִקִּיף הַתֵּבָה דֻּבִּים וַאֲרָיוֹת וְהָיוּ הוֹרְגִים בָּהֶם; וּפְשׁוּטוֹ שֶׁל מִקְרָא סָגַר כְּנֶגֶדוֹ מִן הַמַּיִם, וְכֵן כָּל בְּעַד שֶׁבַּמִּקְרָא לְשׁוֹן כְּנֶגֶד הוּא, בְּעַד כָּל רֶחֶם (בראשית כ׳:י״ח), בַּעֲדֵךְ וּבְעַד בָּנַיִךְ (מ"ב ד'), עוֹר בְּעַד עוֹר (איוב ב'), מָגֵן בַּעֲדִי (תהלים ג'), הִתְפַּלֵּל בְּעַד עֲבָדֶיךָ (שמואל א' י"ב) – כְּנֶגֶד עֲבָדֶיךָ:
ז׳:י"ז
וַֽיְהִ֧י הַמַּבּ֛וּל אַרְבָּעִ֥ים י֖וֹם עַל־הָאָ֑רֶץ וַיִּרְבּ֣וּ הַמַּ֗יִם וַיִּשְׂאוּ֙ אֶת־הַתֵּבָ֔ה וַתָּ֖רָם מֵעַ֥ל הָאָֽרֶץ׃
7:17
The Flood continued forty days on the earth, and the waters increased and raised the ark so that it rose above the earth.
7:17
And the flood was forty days upon the earth; and the waters increased, and bore up the ark, and it was lifted up above the earth.
ז׳:י"ז
וַהֲוָה טוֹפָנָא אַרְבְּעִין יוֹמִין עַל אַרְעָא וּסְגִיאוּ מַיָּא וּנְטָלוּ יָת תֵּבוֹתָא וְאִתָּרָמַת מֵעַל אַרְעָא:
ותרם מעל הארץ. מְשֻׁקַּעַת הָיְתָה בַּמַּיִם י"א אַמָּה כִסְפִינָה טְעוּנָה הַמְשֻׁקַּעַת מִקְצָתָהּ בַּמַּיִם; וּמִקְרָאוֹת שֶׁלְּפָנֵינוּ יוֹכִיחוּ:
ז׳:י"ח
וַיִּגְבְּר֥וּ הַמַּ֛יִם וַיִּרְבּ֥וּ מְאֹ֖ד עַל־הָאָ֑רֶץ וַתֵּ֥לֶךְ הַתֵּבָ֖ה עַל־פְּנֵ֥י הַמָּֽיִם׃
7:18
The waters swelled and increased greatly upon the earth, and the ark drifted upon the waters.

And the waters prevailed, and increased greatly upon the earth; and the ark went upon the face of the waters.

וּתְקִיפוּ מַיָּא וּסְגִיאוּ לַחֲדָא עַל אַרְעָא וּמְהַלְּכָא תֵבוֹתָא עַל אַפֵּי מַיָּא:
ז׳:י"ט
וְהַמַּ֗יִם גָּֽבְר֛וּ מְאֹ֥ד מְאֹ֖ד עַל־הָאָ֑רֶץ וַיְכֻסּ֗וּ כָּל־הֶֽהָרִים֙ הַגְּבֹהִ֔ים אֲשֶׁר־תַּ֖חַת כָּל־הַשָּׁמָֽיִם׃
7:19
When the waters had swelled much more upon the earth, all the highest mountains everywhere under the sky were covered.
7:19
And the waters prevailed exceedingly upon the earth; and all the high mountains that were under the whole heaven were covered.

וּמַיָּא תְּקִיפוּ לַחֲדָא לַחֲדָא עַל אַרְעָא וְאִתְחֲפִיאוּ כָּל טוּרַיָּא רָמַיָּא דִּי תְחוֹת כָּל שְׁמַיָּא:
ז׳:כ׳
חֲמֵ֨שׁ עֶשְׂרֵ֤ה אַמָּה֙ מִלְמַ֔עְלָה גָּבְר֖וּ הַמָּ֑יִם וַיְכֻסּ֖וּ הֶהָרִֽים׃
7:20
Fifteen cubits higher did the waters swell, as the mountains were covered.

Fifteen cubits upward did the waters prevail; and the mountains were covered.
ז׳:כ׳
חֲמֵשׁ עַשְׂרֵה אַמִּין מִלְעֵלָּא תְּקִיפוּ מַיָּא וְאִתְחֲפִיאוּ טוּרַיָא:
חמש עשרה אמה מלמעלה. לְמַעְלָה שֶׁל גֹּבַהּ כָּל הֶהָרִים, לְאַחַר שֶׁהֻשְׁווּ הַמַּיִם לְרָאשֵׁי הֶהָרִים:
ז׳:כ"א
וַיִּגְוַ֞ע כָּל־בָּשָׂ֣ר ׀ הָרֹמֵ֣שׂ עַל־הָאָ֗רֶץ בָּע֤וֹף וּבַבְּהֵמָה֙ וּבַ֣חַיָּ֔ה וּבְכָל־הַשֶּׁ֖רֶץ הַשֹּׁרֵ֣ץ עַל־הָאָ֑רֶץ וְכֹ֖ל הָאָדָֽם׃

And all flesh that stirred on earth perished—birds, cattle, beasts, and all the things that swarmed upon the earth, and all mankind.

וּמִית כָּל בִּשְׂרָא דְּרָחֵשׁ עַל אַרְעָא בְּעוֹפָא וּבִבְעִירָא וּבְחַיְתָא וּבְכָל רִחֲשָׁא דְּרָחֵשׁ עַל אַרְעָא וְכֹל אֱנָשָׁא:

כֹּ֡ל אֲשֶׁר֩ נִשְׁמַת־ר֨וּחַ חַיִּ֜ים בְּאַפָּ֗יו מִכֹּ֛ל אֲשֶׁ֥ר בֶּחָֽרָבָ֖ה מֵֽתוּ׃

All in whose nostrils was the merest breath of life, all that was on dry land, died.

נשמת רוח חיים. נְשָׁמָה שֶׁל רוּחַ חַיִּים:
אשר בחרבה. וְלֹא דָגִים שֶׁבַּיָּם (סנה' ק"ח):

וַיִּ֜מַח אֶֽת־כָּל־הַיְק֣וּם ׀ אֲשֶׁ֣ר ׀ עַל־פְּנֵ֣י הָֽאֲדָמָ֗ה מֵאָדָ֤ם עַד־בְּהֵמָה֙ עַד־רֶ֙מֶשׂ֙ וְעַד־ע֣וֹף הַשָּׁמַ֔יִם וַיִּמָּח֖וּ מִן־הָאָ֑רֶץ וַיִשָּׁ֧אֶר אַךְ־נֹ֛חַ וַֽאֲשֶׁ֥ר אִתּ֖וֹ בַּתֵּבָֽה׃

All existence on earth was blotted out—man, cattle, creeping things, and birds of the sky; they were blotted out from the earth. Only Noah was left, and those with him in the ark.

And He blotted out every living substance which was upon the face of the ground, both man, and cattle, and creeping thing, and fowl of the heaven; and they were blotted out from the earth; and Noah only was left, and they that were with him in the ark.

וּמְחָא יָת כָּל יְקוּמָא דִּי עַל אַפֵּי אַרְעָא מֵאֱנָשָׁא עַד בְּעִירָא עַד רִחֲשָׁא וְעַד עוֹפָא דִשְׁמַיָּא וְאִתְמְחִיאוּ מִן אַרְעָא וְאִשְׁתָּאַר בְּרַם נֹחַ וְדִי עִמֵּיהּ בְּתֵבוֹתָא:
וימח. לְשׁוֹן וַיִּפְעַל הוּא וְאֵינוֹ לָשׁוֹן וַיִפָּעֵל, וְהוּא מִגִּזְרַת וַיִּפֶן וַיִּבֶן כָּל תֵּבָה שֶׁסּוֹפָהּ הֵ"א, כְּגוֹן בָּנָה, מָחָה, קָנָה, כְּשֶׁהוּא נוֹתֵן וָי"ו יוֹ"ד בְּרֹאשָׁהּ, נָקוּד בְּחִירִק תַּחַת הַיּוֹ"ד:
אך נח. לְבַד נֹחַ, זֶהוּ פְּשׁוּטוֹ; וּמִ"אַ גוֹנֵחַ וְכוֹהֶה דָם מִטֹּרַח הַבְּהֵמוֹת וְהַחַיּוֹת. וְיֵ"אֹ שֶׁאִחֵר מְזוֹנוֹת לָאֲרִי וְהִכִּישׁוֹ, וְעָלָיו נֶאֱמַר הֵן צַדִּיק בָּאָרֶץ יְשֻׁלָּם (משלי יא):

וַיִּגְבְּר֥וּ הַמַּ֖יִם עַל־הָאָ֑רֶץ חֲמִשִּׁ֥ים וּמְאַ֖ת יֽוֹם׃

And when the waters had swelled on the earth one hundred and fifty days,

וַיִּזְכֹּ֤ר אֱלֹהִים֙ אֶת־נֹ֔חַ וְאֵ֤ת כָּל־הַֽחַיָּה֙ וְאֶת־כָּל־הַבְּהֵמָ֔ה אֲשֶׁ֥ר אִתּ֖וֹ בַּתֵּבָ֑ה וַיַּעֲבֵ֨ר אֱלֹהִ֥ים ר֙וּחַ֙ עַל־הָאָ֔רֶץ וַיָּשֹׁ֖כּוּ הַמָּֽיִם׃

God remembered Noah and all the beasts and all the cattle that were with him in the ark, and God caused a wind to blow across the earth, and the waters subsided.

And God remembered Noah, and every living thing, and all the cattle that were with him in the ark; and God made a wind to pass over the earth, and the waters assuaged;
ח׳:א׳
וּדְכִיר יְיָ יָת נֹחַ וְיָת כָּל חַיְתָא וְיָת כָּל בְּעִירָא דִּי עִמֵּיהּ בְּתֵבוֹתָא וְאַעְבַּר יְיָ רוּחָא עַל אַרְעָא וְנָחוּ מַיָּא:
ויזכור אלהים. זֶה הַשֵּׁם מִדַּת הַדִּין הוּא, וְנֶהֶפְכָה לְמִדַּת רַחֲמִים עַל יְדֵי תְפִלַּת הַצַּדִּיקִים; וְרִשְׁעָתָן שֶׁל רְשָׁעִים הוֹפֶכֶת מִדַּת רַחֲמִים לְמִדַּת הַדִּין, שֶׁנֶאֱמַר וַיַּרְא ה' כִּי רַבָּה רָעַת הָאָדָם, וַיֹּאמֶר ה' אֶמְחֶה, (ברא' ו') וְהוּא שֵׁם מִדַּת רַחֲמִים:
ויזכור אלהים את נח וגו'. מַה זָּכַר לָהֶם לַבְּהֵמוֹת? זְכוּת, שֶׁלֹּא הִשְׁחִיתוּ דַרְכָּם קֹדֶם לָכֵן וְשֶׁלֹּא שִׁמְּשׁוּ בַּתֵּבָה:
ויעבר אלהים רוח. רוּחַ תַּנְחוּמִין וַהֲנָחָה עָבְרָה לְפָנָיו:
על הארץ. עַל עִסְקֵי הָאָרֶץ:
וישכו. כְּמוֹ כְּשֹׁךְ חֲמַת הַמֶּלֶךְ (אסתר ב') לְשׁוֹן הַנָּחַת חֵמָה:
ח׳:ב׳
וַיִּסָּֽכְרוּ֙ מַעְיְנֹ֣ת תְּה֔וֹם וַֽאֲרֻבֹּ֖ת הַשָּׁמָ֑יִם וַיִּכָּלֵ֥א הַגֶּ֖שֶׁם מִן־הַשָּׁמָֽיִם׃
8:2
The fountains of the deep and the floodgates of the sky were stopped up, and the rain from the sky was held back;

the fountains also of the deep and the windows of heaven were stopped, and the rain from heaven was restrained.
ח׳:ב׳
וְאִסְתְּכָרוּ מַבּוּעֵי תְהוֹמָא וְכַוֵּי שְׁמַיָּא וְאִתְכְּלִי מִטְרָא מִן שְׁמַיָּא:
ויסכרו מעינות. כְּשֶׁנִּפְתְּחוּ כְּתִיב כָּל מַעְיְנֹת; וְכָאן אֵין כְּתִיב כָּל, לְפִי שֶׁנִּשְׁתַּיְּרוּ מֵהֶם אוֹתָן שֶׁיֵּשׁ בָּהֶם צֹרֶךְ לָעוֹלָם, כְּגוֹן חַמֵּי טְבֵרְיָא וְכַיוֹצֵא בָהֶן:
ויכלא. וַיִמָּנַע כְּמוֹ לֹא תִכְלָא רַחֲמֶיךָ (תהלים מ'), לֹא יִכְלֶה מִמְּךָ (ברא' כג):

וַיָּשֻׁ֧בוּ הַמַּ֛יִם מֵעַ֥ל הָאָ֖רֶץ הָל֣וֹךְ וָשׁ֑וֹב וַיַּחְסְר֣וּ הַמַּ֔יִם מִקְצֵ֕ה חֲמִשִּׁ֥ים וּמְאַ֖ת יֽוֹם׃
8:3
the waters then receded steadily from the earth. At the end of one hundred and fifty days the waters diminished,

And the waters returned from off the earth continually; and after the end of a hundred and fifty days the waters decreased.

וְתָבוּ מַיָּא מֵעַל אַרְעָא אָזְלִין וְתָיְבִין וַחֲסָרוּ מַיָּא מִסּוֹף מְאָה וְחַמְשִׁין יוֹמִין:
מקצה חמשים ומאת יום. הִתְחִילוּ לַחֲסֹר וְהוּא אֶחָד בְּסִיוָן. כֵּיצַד? בְּכ"ז בְּכִסְלֵו פָּסְקוּ הַגְּשָׁמִים, הֲרֵי ג' מִכִּסְלֵו וְכ"ט מִטֵּבֵת הֲרֵי ל"ב, וּשְׁבָט וַאֲדָר וְנִיסָן וְאִיָּר קי"ח, הֲרֵי ק"נ:
ח׳:ד׳
וַתָּ֤נַח הַתֵּבָה֙ בַּחֹ֣דֶשׁ הַשְּׁבִיעִ֔י בְּשִׁבְעָה־עָשָׂ֥ר י֖וֹם לַחֹ֑דֶשׁ עַ֖ל הָרֵ֥י אֲרָרָֽט׃
8:4
so that in the seventh month, on the seventeenth day of the month, the ark came to rest on the mountains of Ararat.

וְנָחַת תֵּבוֹתָא בְּיַרְחָא שְׁבִיעָאָה בְּשִׁבְעַת עֲשַׂר יוֹמָא לְיַרְחָא עַל טוּרֵי קַרְדּוּ:
בחדש השביעי. סִיוָן, וְהוּא שְׁבִיעִי לְכִסְלֵו שֶׁבּוֹ פָּסְקוּ הַגְּשָׁמִים:
בשבעה עשר יום. מִכָּאן אַתָּה לָמֵד שֶׁהָיְתָה הַתֵּבָה מְשֻׁקַּעַת בַּמַּיִם י"א אַמָּה, שֶׁהֲרֵי כְתִיב בָּעֲשִׂירִי בְּאֶחָד לַחֹדֶשׁ נִרְאוּ רָאשֵׁי הֶהָרִים, זֶה אָב, שֶׁהִיא עֲשִׂירִי לְמַרְחֶשְׁוָן לִירִידַת גְּשָׁמִים, וְהֵם הָיוּ גְבוֹהִים עַל הֶהָרִים חֲמֵשׁ עֶשְׂרֵה אַמָּה, וְחָסְרוּ מִיּוֹם אֶחָד בְּסִיוָן עַד אֶחָד בְּאָב חֲמֵשׁ עֶשְׂרֵה אַמָּה לְשִּׁשִּׁים יוֹם, הֲרֵי אַמָּה לְד' יָמִים, נִמְצָא, שֶׁבְּי"ו בְּסִיוָן לֹא חָסְרוּ אֶלָּא ד' אַמּוֹת וְנָחָה הַתֵּבָה לְיוֹם הַמָּחֳרָת; לָמַדְתָּ, שֶׁהָיְתָה מְשֻׁקַּעַת י"א אַמָּה בַמַּיִם שֶׁעַל רָאשֵׁי הֶהָרִים:
ח׳:ה׳
וְהַמַּ֗יִם הָיוּ֙ הָל֣וֹךְ וְחָס֔וֹר עַ֖ד הַחֹ֣דֶשׁ הָֽעֲשִׂירִ֑י בָּֽעֲשִׂירִי֙ בְּאֶחָ֣ד לַחֹ֔דֶשׁ נִרְא֖וּ רָאשֵׁ֥י הֶֽהָרִֽים׃
8:5
The waters went on diminishing until the tenth month; in the tenth month, on the first of the month, the tops of the mountains became visible.

And the waters decreased continually until the tenth month; in the tenth month, on the first day of the month, were the tops of the mountains seen.
ח׳:ה׳
וּמַיָּא הֲווֹ אָזְלִין וְחָסְרִין עַד יַרְחָא עֲשִׂירָאָה בַּעֲשִׂירָאָה בְּחַד לְיַרְחָא אִתְחֲזִיאוּ רֵישֵׁי טוּרַיָּא:
בעשירי נראו ראשי ההרים. זֶה אָב, שֶׁהוּא עֲשִׂירִי לְמַרְחֶשְׁוָן שֶׁהִתְחִיל הַגֶּשֶׁם. וְאִם תֹּאמַר הוּא אֱלוּל, וַעֲשִׂירִי לְכִסְלֵו שֶׁפָּסַק הַגֶּשֶׁם, כְּשֵׁם שֶׁאַתָּה אוֹמֵר בַּחֹדֶשׁ הַשְּׁבִיעִי סִיוָן, וְהוּא שְׁבִיעִי לַהַפְסָקָה – אִי אֶפְשָׁר לוֹמַר כֵּן, עַל כָּרְחֲךָ שְׁבִיעִי אִי אַתָּה מוֹנֶה אֶלָּא לַהַפְסָקָה, שֶׁהֲרֵי לֹא כָלוּ אַרְבָּעִים יוֹם שֶׁל יְרִידַת גְּשָׁמִים, וּמֵאָה וַחֲמִשִּׁים שֶׁל תִּגְבֹּרֶת הַמַּיִם עַד אֶחָד בְּסִיוָן; וְאִם אַתָּה אוֹמֵר שְׁבִיעִי לַיְרִידָה, אֵין זֶה סִיוָן, וְהָעֲשִׂירִי אִי אֶפְשָׁר לִמְנוֹת אֶלָּא לַיְרִידָה, שֶׁאִם אַתָּה אוֹמֵר לַהַפְסָקָה וְהוּא אֱלוּל, אִי אַתָּה מוֹצֵא בָּרִאשׁוֹן בְּאֶחָד לַחֹדֶשׁ חָרְבוּ הַמַּיִם מֵעַל הָאָרֶץ; שֶׁהֲרֵי מִקֵּץ אַרְבָּעִים יוֹם מִשֶׁנִּרְאוּ רָאשֵׁי הֶהָרִים שִׁלַּח אֶת הָעוֹרֵב וְכ"א יוֹם הוֹחִיל בִּשְׁלִיחוּת הַיּוֹנָה, הֲרֵי שִׁשִּׁים יוֹם מִשֶּׁנִּרְאוּ רָאשֵׁי הֶהָרִים עַד שֶׁחָרְבוּ פְנֵי הָאֲדָמָה. וְאִם תֹּאמַר בֶּאֱלוּל נִרְאוּ, נִמְצָא שֶׁחָרְבוּ בְּמַרְחֶשְׁוָן וְהוּא קוֹרֵא אוֹתוֹ רִאשׁוֹן, וְאֵין זֶה אֶלָּא תִּשְׁרֵי, שֶׁהוּא רִאשׁוֹן לִבְרִיאַת עוֹלָם, וְלְרַבִּי יְהוֹשֻׁעַ הוּא נִיסָן:
ח׳:ו׳
וַֽיְהִ֕י מִקֵּ֖ץ אַרְבָּעִ֣ים י֑וֹם וַיִּפְתַּ֣ח נֹ֔חַ אֶת־חַלּ֥וֹן הַתֵּבָ֖ה אֲשֶׁ֥ר עָשָֽׂה׃

At the end of forty days, Noah opened the window of the ark that he had made

And it came to pass at the end of forty days, that Noah opened the window of the ark which he had made.
ח׳:ו׳
וַהֲוָה מִסּוֹף אַרְבְּעִין יוֹמִין וּפְתַח נֹחַ יָת כַּוַּת תֵּבוֹתָא דִּי עֲבָד:
מקץ ארבעים יום. מִשֶּׁנִּרְאוּ רָאשֵׁי הֶהָרִים:
את חלון התבה אשר עשה. לְצֹהַר, וְלֹא זֶה פֶּתַח הַתֵּבָה הֶעָשׂוּי לְבִיאָה וִיצִיאָה:
ח׳:ז׳
וַיְשַׁלַּ֖ח אֶת־הָֽעֹרֵ֑ב וַיֵּצֵ֤א יָצוֹא֙ וָשׁ֔וֹב עַד־יְבֹ֥שֶׁת הַמַּ֖יִם מֵעַ֥ל הָאָֽרֶץ׃
8:7
and sent out the raven; it went to and fro until the waters had dried up from the earth.

And he sent forth a raven, and it went forth to and fro, until the waters were dried up from off the earth.
ח׳:ז׳
וְשַׁלַּח יָת עָרְבָּא וּנְפַק מִפַּק וְתַיִב עַד דְּיַבִּישׁוּ מַיָּא מֵעַל אַרְעָא:
יצוא ושוב. הוֹלֵךְ וּמַקִּיף סְבִיבוֹת הַתֵּבָה, וְלֹא הָלַךְ בִּשְׁלִיחוּתוֹ, שֶׁהָיָה חוֹשְׁדוֹ עַל בַּת זוּגוֹ, כְּמוֹ שֶׁשָּׁנִינוּ בְּאַגָּדַת חֵלֶק (סנה' ק"ח):
עד יבשת המים. פְּשׁוּטוֹ כְּמַשְׁמָעוֹ. אֲבָל מִדְרַשׁ אַגָּדָה מוּכָן הָיָה הָעוֹרֵב לִשְׁלִיחוּת אַחֶרֶת בַּעֲצִירַת גְּשָׁמִים בִּימֵי אֵלִיָּהוּ, שֶׁנֶּאֱמַר וְהָעֹרְבִים מְבִאִים לוֹ לֶחֶם וּבָשָׂר (מ"א י"ז):
ח׳:ח׳
וַיְשַׁלַּ֥ח אֶת־הַיּוֹנָ֖ה מֵאִתּ֑וֹ לִרְאוֹת֙ הֲקַ֣לּוּ הַמַּ֔יִם מֵעַ֖ל פְּנֵ֥י הָֽאֲדָמָֽה׃

Then he sent out the dove to see whether the waters had decreased from the surface of the ground.

And he sent forth a dove from him, to see if the waters were abated from off the face of the ground.
ח׳:ח׳
וְשַׁלַּח יָת יוֹנָה מִלְּוָתֵיהּ לְמֶחֱזֵי הֲקַלִּיאוּ מַיָּא מֵעַל אַפֵּי אַרְעָא:
וישלח את היונה. לְסוֹף ז' יָמִים שֶׁהֲרֵי כְתִיב וַיָּחֶל עוֹד ז' יָמִים אֲחֵרִים, מִכְּלַל זֶה אַתָּה לָמֵד שֶׁאַף בָּרִאשׁוֹנָה הוֹחִיל ז' יָמִים:
וישלח. אֵין זֶה לְשׁוֹן שְׁלִיחוּת אֶלָּא לְשׁוֹן שִׁלּוּח, שִׁלְּחָהּ לָלֶכֶת לְדַרְכָּה, וּבְזוֹ יִרְאֶה אִם קַלּוּ הַמַּיִם, שֶׁאִם תִּמְצָא מָנוֹחַ לֹא תָשׁוּב אֵלָיו:
ח׳:ט׳
וְלֹֽא־מָצְאָה֩ הַיּוֹנָ֨ה מָנ֜וֹחַ לְכַף־רַגְלָ֗הּ וַתָּ֤שָׁב אֵלָיו֙ אֶל־הַתֵּבָ֔ה כִּי־מַ֖יִם עַל־פְּנֵ֣י כָל־הָאָ֑רֶץ וַיִּשְׁלַ֤ח יָדוֹ֙ וַיִּקָּחֶ֔הָ וַיָּבֵ֥א אֹתָ֛הּ אֵלָ֖יו אֶל־הַתֵּבָֽה׃
8:9
But the dove could not find a resting place for its foot, and returned to him to the ark, for there was water over all the earth. So putting out his hand, he took it into the ark with him.

But the dove found no rest for the sole of her foot, and she returned unto him to the ark, for the waters were on the face of the whole earth; and he put forth his hand, and took her, and brought her in unto him into the ark.
ח׳:ט׳
וְלָא אַשְׁכַּחַת יוֹנָה מְנַח לְפַרְסַת רַגְלַהּ וְתָבַת לְוָתֵיהּ לְתֵבוֹתָא אֲרֵי מַיָּא עַל אַפֵּי כָל אַרְעָא וְאוֹשִׁיט יְדֵיהּ וְנָסְבַהּ וְאָעֵיל יָתַהּ לְוָתֵיהּ לְתֵבוֹתָא:
ח׳:י׳
וַיָּ֣חֶל ע֔וֹד שִׁבְעַ֥ת יָמִ֖ים אֲחֵרִ֑ים וַיֹּ֛סֶף שַׁלַּ֥ח אֶת־הַיּוֹנָ֖ה מִן־הַתֵּבָֽה׃
8:10
He waited another seven days, and again sent out the dove from the ark.

And he stayed yet other seven days; and again he sent forth the dove out of the ark.

וְאוֹרִיךְ עוֹד שַׁבְעָא יוֹמִין אָחֳרָנִין וְאוֹסֵיף שַׁלַּח יָת יוֹנָה מִן תֵּבוֹתָא:
ויחל. לְשׁוֹן הַמְתָּנָה, וְכֵן לִי שָׁמְעוּ וְיִחֵלּוּ (איוב כ"ט), וְהַרְבֵּה יֵשׁ בַּמִּקְרָא:
ח׳:י"א
וַתָּבֹ֨א אֵלָ֤יו הַיּוֹנָה֙ לְעֵ֣ת עֶ֔רֶב וְהִנֵּ֥ה עֲלֵה־זַ֖יִת טָרָ֣ף בְּפִ֑יהָ וַיֵּ֣דַע נֹ֔חַ כִּי־קַ֥לּוּ הַמַּ֖יִם מֵעַ֥ל הָאָֽרֶץ׃
8:11
The dove came back to him toward evening, and there in its bill was a plucked-off olive leaf! Then Noah knew that the waters had decreased on the earth.

And the dove came in to him at eventide; and lo in her mouth an olive-leaf freshly plucked; so Noah knew that the waters were abated from off the earth.
ח׳:י"א
וַאֲתַת לְוָתֵיהּ יוֹנָה לְעִדַּן רַמְשָׁא וְהָא טְרַף זֵיתָא תְּבִיר נָחִית בְּפוּמַהּ וִידַע נֹחַ אֲרֵי קַלִּיאוּ מַיָא מֵעַל אַרְעָא:
טרף בפיה. אוֹמֵר אֲנִי שֶׁזָּכָר הָיָה, לְכֵן קוֹרְאוֹ פְעָמִים לְשׁוֹן זָכָר וּפְעָמִים לְשׁוֹן נְקֵבָה, לְפִי שֶׁכָּל יוֹנָה שֶׁבַּמִּקְרָא לְשׁוֹן נְקֵבָה, כְּמוֹ כְּיוֹנִים עַל אֲפִיקֵי מָיִם רֹחֲצוֹת (שיר ה'), כְּיוֹנֵי הַגֵּאָיוֹת כֻּלָּם הֹמוֹת (יחז' ז') וּכְמוֹ כְּיוֹנָה פוֹתָה (הושע ז'):
טרף. חָטַף. וּמִדְרַשׁ אַגָּדָה (עיר' י"ח) לְשׁוֹן מָזוֹן; וְדָרְשׁוּ בְּפִיהָ לְשׁוֹן מַאֲמָר, אָמְרָה יִהְיוּ מְזוֹנוֹתַי מְרוֹרִין כְּזַיִת בְּיָדוֹ שֶׁל הַקָּבָּ"ה וְלֹא מְתוּקִין כִּדְבַשׁ בִּידֵי בָשָׂר וָדָם:

וַיִּיָּ֣חֶל ע֔וֹד שִׁבְעַ֥ת יָמִ֖ים אֲחֵרִ֑ים וַיְשַׁלַּח֙ אֶת־הַיּוֹנָ֔ה וְלֹֽא־יָסְפָ֥ה שׁוּב־אֵלָ֖יו עֽוֹד׃

He waited still another seven days and sent the dove forth; and it did not return to him any more.

וייחל. הוּא לְשׁוֹן וַיָּחֶל, אֶלָּא שֶׁזֶּה לְשׁוֹן וַיִּפְעַל וְזֶה לְשׁוֹן וַיִּתְפַּעֵל, וַיָּחֶל – וַיַּמְתֵּן; וַיִּיָּחֶל – וַיִּתְמַתֵּן:

וַֽ֠יְהִי בְּאַחַ֨ת וְשֵׁשׁ־מֵא֜וֹת שָׁנָ֗ה בָּֽרִאשׁוֹן֙ בְּאֶחָ֣ד לַחֹ֔דֶשׁ חָֽרְב֥וּ הַמַּ֖יִם מֵעַ֣ל הָאָ֑רֶץ וַיָּ֤סַר נֹ֙חַ֙ אֶת־מִכְסֵ֣ה הַתֵּבָ֔ה וַיַּ֕רְא וְהִנֵּ֥ה חָֽרְב֖וּ פְּנֵ֥י הָֽאֲדָמָֽה׃

In the six hundred and first year, in the first month, on the first of the month, the waters began to dry from the earth; and when Noah removed the covering of the ark, he saw that the surface of the ground was drying.

וַהֲוָה בְּשִׁתְּ מְאָה וְחַד שְׁנִין בְּקַדְמָאָה בְּחַד לְיַרְחָא נְגוּבוּ מַיָּא מֵעַל אַרְעָא וְאַעְדִּי נֹחַ יָת חוֹפָאָה דְּתֵבוֹתָא וַחֲזָא וְהָא נְגוּבוּ אַפֵּי אַרְעָא:
בראשון. לְרַבִּי אֱלִיעֶזֶר הוּא תִּשְׁרֵי וּלְרַבִּי יְהוֹשֻׁעַ הוּא נִיסָן (ר"ה י"א):
חרבו. נַעֲשָׂה כְמִין טִיט, שֶׁקָּרְמוּ פָנֶיהָ שֶׁל מַעְלָה:

וּבַחֹ֙דֶשׁ֙ הַשֵּׁנִ֔י בְּשִׁבְעָ֧ה וְעֶשְׂרִ֛ים י֖וֹם לַחֹ֑דֶשׁ יָבְשָׁ֖ה הָאָֽרֶץ׃ (ס)

And in the second month, on the twenty-seventh day of the month, the earth was dry.

בשבעה ועשרים. יְרִידָתָן בַּחֹדֶשׁ הַשֵּׁנִי בְי"ז בַּחֹדֶשׁ, אֵלּוּ י"א יָמִים שֶׁהַחַמָּה יְתֵרָה עַל הַלְּבָנָה, שֶׁמִּשְׁפַּט דוֹר הַמַּבּוּל שָׁנָה תְמִימָה הָיָה:
יבשה. נַעֲשָׂה גָּרִיד כְּהִלְכָתָהּ:
