וַיֹּ֨אמֶר יְהוָ֜ה אֶל־מֹשֶׁ֗ה הָשֵׁ֞ב אֶת־מַטֵּ֤ה אַהֲרֹן֙ לִפְנֵ֣י הָעֵד֔וּת לְמִשְׁמֶ֥רֶת לְא֖וֹת לִבְנֵי־מֶ֑רִי וּתְכַ֧ל תְּלוּנֹּתָ֛ם מֵעָלַ֖י וְלֹ֥א יָמֻֽתוּ׃
17:25
The LORD said to Moses, “Put Aaron’s staff back before the Pact, to be kept as a lesson to rebels, so that their mutterings against Me may cease, lest they die.”
17:25
and the LORD said unto Moses: ‘Put back the rod of Aaron before the testimony, to be kept there, for a token against the rebellious children; that there may be made an end of their murmurings against Me, that they die not.’

וַאֲמַר יְיָ לְמשֶׁה אָתֵב יָת חֻטְרָא דְאַהֲרֹן לָקֳדָם סַהֲדוּתָא לְמַטְּרָא לְאָת לְעַמָּא סַרְבָּנָא וִיסוּפַן תּוּרְעֲמַתְהוֹן מִן קֳדָמַי וְלָא יְמוּתוּן:
למשמרת לאות. לְזִכָּרוֹן שֶׁבָּחַרְתִּי בְּאַהֲרֹן לְכֹהֵן וְלֹא יִלּוֹנוּ עוֹד עַל הַכְּהֻנָּה:
ותכל תלונתם. כְּמוֹ וּתְכַלֶּה תְּלֻנּוֹתָם; לָשׁוֹן זֶה שֵׁם מִפְעָל יָחִיד לְשׁוֹן נְקֵבָה, כְּמוֹ תְלֻנָּתָם, מרמור"יש בלעז; וְיֵשׁ חִלּוּק בֵּין תְּלֻנּוֹתָם לִתְלֻנָּתָם, תְּלֻנָּתָם תְּלֻנָּה אַחַת, תְּלֻנּוֹתָם שֵׁם דָּבָר בִּלְשׁוֹן יָחִיד וַאֲפִלּוּ הֵם תְּלֻנּוֹת הַרְבֵּה:

וַיַּ֖עַשׂ מֹשֶׁ֑ה כַּאֲשֶׁ֨ר צִוָּ֧ה יְהוָ֛ה אֹת֖וֹ כֵּ֥ן עָשָֽׂה׃ (ס)

This Moses did; just as the LORD had commanded him, so he did.

וַעֲבַד משֶׁה כְּמָא דִּי פַקִּיד יְיָ יָתֵיהּ כֵּן עֲבָד:

וַיֹּֽאמְרוּ֙ בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל אֶל־מֹשֶׁ֖ה לֵאמֹ֑ר הֵ֥ן גָּוַ֛עְנוּ אָבַ֖דְנוּ כֻּלָּ֥נוּ אָבָֽדְנוּ׃
17:27
But the Israelites said to Moses, “Lo, we perish! We are lost, all of us lost!
17:27
And the children of Israel spoke unto Moses, saying: ‘Behold, we perish, we are undone, we are all undone.
י"ז:כ"ז
וַאֲמָרוּ בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל לְמשֶׁה לְמֵימָר הָא מִנָּנָא קְטָלַת חַרְבָּא הָא מִנָּנָא בְּלַעַת אַרְעָא וְהָא מִנָּנָא דְּמִיתוּ בְמוֹתָנָא:
י"ז:כ"ח
כֹּ֣ל הַקָּרֵ֧ב ׀ הַקָּרֵ֛ב אֶל־מִשְׁכַּ֥ן יְהוָ֖ה יָמ֑וּת הַאִ֥ם תַּ֖מְנוּ לִגְוֺֽעַ׃ (ס)
17:28
Everyone who so much as ventures near the LORD’s Tabernacle must die. Alas, we are doomed to perish!”
17:28
Every one that cometh near, that cometh near unto the tabernacle of the LORD, is to die; shall we wholly perish?’

כֹּל דְּקָרֵב מִקְרַב לְמַשְׁכְּנָא דַיְיָ מָאִית הָא אֲנַחְנָא סַיְפִין לִמְמָת:
כל הקרב הקרב וגו'. אֵין אָנוּ יְכוֹלִין לִהְיוֹת זְהִירִין בְּכָךְ, כֻּלָּנוּ רַשָּׁאִין לְהִכָּנֵס לַחֲצַר אֹהֶל מוֹעֵד, וְאֶחָד שֶׁיַּקְרִיב עַצְמוֹ יוֹתֵר מֵחֲבֵרוֹ וְיִכָּנֵס לְתוֹךְ אֹהֶל מוֹעֵד יָמוּת:
האם תמנו לגוע. שֶׁמָּא הֻפְקַרְנוּ לְמִיתָה?:
י"ח:א׳
וַיֹּ֤אמֶר יְהוָה֙ אֶֽל־אַהֲרֹ֔ן אַתָּ֗ה וּבָנֶ֤יךָ וּבֵית־אָבִ֙יךָ֙ אִתָּ֔ךְ תִּשְׂא֖וּ אֶת־עֲוֺ֣ן הַמִּקְדָּ֑שׁ וְאַתָּה֙ וּבָנֶ֣יךָ אִתָּ֔ךְ תִּשְׂא֖וּ אֶת־עֲוֺ֥ן כְּהֻנַּתְכֶֽם׃
18:1
The LORD said to Aaron: You and your sons and the ancestral house under your charge shall bear any guilt connected with the sanctuary; you and your sons alone shall bear any guilt connected with your priesthood.

And the LORD said unto Aaron: ‘Thou and thy sons and thy fathers’ house with thee shall bear the iniquity of the sanctuary; and thou and thy sons with thee shall bear the iniquity of your priesthood.

וַאֲמַר יְיָ לְאַהֲרֹן אַתְּ וּבְנָיךְ וּבֵית אָבוּךְ עִמָּךְ תְּסַלְּחוּן עַל חוֹבֵי מַקְדְּשָׁא וְאַתְּ וּבְנָיךְ עִמָּךְ תְּסַלְּחוּן עַל חוֹבֵי כְהֻנַּתְכוֹן:
ויאמר ה' אל אהרן. לְמֹשֶׁה אָמַר שֶׁיֹּאמַר לְאַהֲרֹן, לְהַזְהִירוֹ עַל תַּקָּנַת יִשְׂרָאֵל שֶׁלֹּא יִכָּנְסוּ לַמִּקְדָּשׁ:
אתה ובניך ובית אביך. הֵם בְּנֵי קְהָת אֲבִי עַמְרָם:
תשאו את עון המקדש. עֲלֵיכֶם אֲנִי מַטִּיל עֹנֶשׁ הַזָּרִים שֶׁיֶּחֶטְאוּ בְעִסְקֵי הַדְּבָרִים הַמְקֻדָּשִׁים הַמְּסוּרִים לָכֶם, הוּא הָאֹהֶל וְהָאָרוֹן וְהַשֻּׁלְחָן וּכְלֵי הַקֹּדֶשׁ — אַתֶּם תֵּשְׁבוּ וְתַזְהִירוּ עַל כָּל זָר הַבָּא לִגַּע:
ואתה ובניך. הַכֹּהֲנִים:
תשאו את עון כהנתכם. שֶׁאֵינָהּ מְסוּרָה לַלְוִיִּם, וְתַזְהִירוּ הַלְוִיִּם הַשּׁוֹגְגִים שֶׁלֹּא יִגְּעוּ אֲלֵיכֶם בַּעֲבוֹדַתְכֶם:
י"ח:ב׳
וְגַ֣ם אֶת־אַחֶיךָ֩ מַטֵּ֨ה לֵוִ֜י שֵׁ֤בֶט אָבִ֙יךָ֙ הַקְרֵ֣ב אִתָּ֔ךְ וְיִלָּו֥וּ עָלֶ֖יךָ וִֽישָׁרְת֑וּךָ וְאַתָּה֙ וּבָנֶ֣יךָ אִתָּ֔ךְ לִפְנֵ֖י אֹ֥הֶל הָעֵדֻֽת׃
18:2
You shall also associate with yourself your kinsmen the tribe of Levi, your ancestral tribe, to be attached to you and to minister to you, while you and your sons under your charge are before the Tent of the Pact.aMeaning of latter part of verse uncertain.
18:2
And thy brethren also, the tribe of Levi, the tribe of thy father, bring thou near with thee, that they may be joined unto thee, and minister unto thee, thou and thy sons with thee being before the tent of the testimony.
י"ח:ב׳
וְאַף יָת אַחָיךְ שִׁבְטָא דְלֵוִי שִׁבְטָא דְאָבוּךְ קָרֵב לְוָתָךְ וְיִתּוֹסְפוּן עֲלָךְ וִישַׁמְּשֻׁנָּךְ וְאַתְּ וּבְנָיךְ עִמָּךְ קֳדָם מַשְׁכְּנָא דְסַהֲדוּתָא:
וגם אחיך. בְּנֵי גֵרְשׁוֹן וּבְנֵי מְרָרִי:
וילוו. וְיִתְחַבְּרוּ אֲלֵיכֶם, לְהַזְהִיר גַּם אֶת הַזָּרִים מִלִּקְרַב אֲלֵיהֶם:
וישרתוך. בִּשְׁמִירַת הַשְּׁעָרִים וּלְמַנּוֹת מֵהֶם גִּזְבָּרִין וַאֲמַרְכָּלִין (ספרי):
י"ח:ג׳
וְשָֽׁמְרוּ֙ מִֽשְׁמַרְתְּךָ֔ וּמִשְׁמֶ֖רֶת כָּל־הָאֹ֑הֶל אַךְ֩ אֶל־כְּלֵ֨י הַקֹּ֤דֶשׁ וְאֶל־הַמִּזְבֵּ֙חַ֙ לֹ֣א יִקְרָ֔בוּ וְלֹֽא־יָמֻ֥תוּ גַם־הֵ֖ם גַּם־אַתֶּֽם׃
18:3
They shall discharge their duties to you and to the Tent as a whole, but they must not have any contact with the furnishings of the Shrine or with the altar, lest both they and you die.
18:3
And they shall keep thy charge, and the charge of all the Tent; only they shall not come nigh unto the holy furniture and unto the altar, that they die not, neither they, nor ye.
י"ח:ג׳
וְיִטְּרוּן מַטַּרְתָּךְ וּמַטְּרַת כָּל מַשְׁכְּנָא בְּרַם לְמָנֵי קוּדְשָׁא וּלְמַדְבְּחָא לָא יִקְרְבוּן וְלָא יְמוּתוּן אַף אִנּוּן אַף אַתּוּן:
י"ח:ד׳
וְנִלְו֣וּ עָלֶ֔יךָ וְשָֽׁמְר֗וּ אֶת־מִשְׁמֶ֙רֶת֙ אֹ֣הֶל מוֹעֵ֔ד לְכֹ֖ל עֲבֹדַ֣ת הָאֹ֑הֶל וְזָ֖ר לֹא־יִקְרַ֥ב אֲלֵיכֶֽם׃
18:4
They shall be attached to you and discharge the duties of the Tent of Meeting, all the service of the Tent; but no outsider shall intrude upon you

And they shall be joined unto thee, and keep the charge of the tent of meeting, whatsoever the service of the Tent may be; but a common man shall not draw nigh unto you.
י"ח:ד׳
וְיִתּוֹסְפוּן עֲלָךְ וְיִטְּרוּן יָת מַטְּרַת מַשְׁכַּן זִמְנָא לְכָל פָּלְחַן מַשְׁכְּנָא וְחִלּוֹנַי לָא יִקְרַב לְוָתְכוֹן:
וזר לא יקרב אליכם. אֶתְכֶם אֲנִי מַזְהִיר עַל כָּךְ:
י"ח:ה׳
וּשְׁמַרְתֶּ֗ם אֵ֚ת מִשְׁמֶ֣רֶת הַקֹּ֔דֶשׁ וְאֵ֖ת מִשְׁמֶ֣רֶת הַמִּזְבֵּ֑חַ וְלֹֽא־יִהְיֶ֥ה ע֛וֹד קֶ֖צֶף עַל־בְּנֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃
18:5
as you discharge the duties connected with the Shrine and the altar, that wrath may not again strike the Israelites.
18:5
And ye shall keep the charge of the holy things, and the charge of the altar, that there be wrath no more upon the children of Israel.
י"ח:ה׳
וְתִטְּרוּן יָת מַטְּרַת קוּדְשָׁא וְיָת מַטְּרַת מַדְבְּחָא וְלָא יְהֵי עוֹד רָגְזָא עַל בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל:
ולא יהיה עוד קצף. כְּמוֹ שֶׁהָיָה כְבָר, שֶׁנֶּאֱמַר (במדבר י"ז) "כִּי יָצָא הַקֶּצֶף" (ספרי):
י"ח:ו׳
וַאֲנִ֗י הִנֵּ֤ה לָקַ֙חְתִּי֙ אֶת־אֲחֵיכֶ֣ם הַלְוִיִּ֔ם מִתּ֖וֹךְ בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל לָכֶ֞ם מַתָּנָ֤ה נְתֻנִים֙ לַֽיהוָ֔ה לַעֲבֹ֕ד אֶת־עֲבֹדַ֖ת אֹ֥הֶל מוֹעֵֽד׃
18:6
I hereby take your fellow Levites from among the Israelites; they are assigned to you in dedication to the LORD, to do the work of the Tent of Meeting;
18:6
And I, behold, I have taken your brethren the Levites from among the children of Israel; for you they are given as a gift unto the LORD, to do the service of the tent of meeting.
י"ח:ו׳
וַאֲנָא הָא קָרֵיבִית יָת אֲחֵיכוֹן לֵוָאֵי מִגּוֹ בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל לְכוֹן מַתְּנָא יְהִיבִין קֳדָם יְיָ לְמִפְלַח יָת פָּלְחַן מַשְׁכַּן זִמְנָא:
לכם מתנה נתנים. יָכוֹל לַעֲבוֹדַתְכֶם שֶׁל הֶדְיוֹט, תַּ"ל "לַה'", כְּמוֹ שֶׁמְּפֹרָשׁ לְמַעְלָה, לִשְׁמֹר מִשְׁמֶרֶת גִּזְבָּרִין וַאֲמַרְכָּלִין:
י"ח:ז׳
וְאַתָּ֣ה וּבָנֶ֣יךָ אִ֠תְּךָ תִּשְׁמְר֨וּ אֶת־כְּהֻנַּתְכֶ֜ם לְכָל־דְּבַ֧ר הַמִּזְבֵּ֛חַ וּלְמִבֵּ֥ית לַפָּרֹ֖כֶת וַעֲבַדְתֶּ֑ם עֲבֹדַ֣ת מַתָּנָ֗ה אֶתֵּן֙ אֶת־כְּהֻנַּתְכֶ֔ם וְהַזָּ֥ר הַקָּרֵ֖ב יוּמָֽת׃ (ס)
18:7
while you and your sons shall be careful to perform your priestly duties in everything pertaining to the altar and to what is behind the curtain. I make your priesthood a service of dedication; any outsider who encroaches shall be put to death.
18:7
And thou and thy sons with thee shall keep your priesthood in everything that pertaineth to the altar, and to that within the veil; and ye shall serve; I give you the priesthood as a service of gift; and the common man that draweth nigh shall be put to death.’

וְאַתְּ וּבְנָיךְ עִמָּךְ תִּטְּרוּן יָת כְּהֻנַּתְכוֹן לְכָל פִּתְגַּם מַדְבְּחָא וּלְמִגָּו לְפָרוּכְתָּא וְתִפְלְחוּן פָּלְחַן מַתְּנָא אֵיהַב יָת כְּהֻנַּתְכוֹן וְחִלּוֹנַי דְּיִקְרַב יִתְקְטָל:
עבדת מתנה. בְּמַתָּנָה נְתַתִּיהָ לָכֶם:
י"ח:ח׳
וַיְדַבֵּ֣ר יְהוָה֮ אֶֽל־אַהֲרֹן֒ וַאֲנִי֙ הִנֵּ֣ה נָתַ֣תִּֽי לְךָ֔ אֶת־מִשְׁמֶ֖רֶת תְּרוּמֹתָ֑י לְכָל־קָדְשֵׁ֣י בְנֵֽי־יִ֠שְׂרָאֵל לְךָ֨ נְתַתִּ֧ים לְמָשְׁחָ֛ה וּלְבָנֶ֖יךָ לְחָק־עוֹלָֽם׃
18:8
The LORD spoke further to Aaron: I hereby give you charge of My gifts, all the sacred donations of the Israelites; I grant them to you and to your sons as a perquisite,bSee note at Lev. 7.35. a due for all time.

And the LORD spoke unto Aaron: ‘And I, behold, I have given thee the charge of My heave-offerings; even of all the hallowed things of the children of Israel unto thee have I given them for a consecrated portion, and to thy sons, as a due for ever.

וּמַלִּיל יְיָ עִם אַהֲרֹן וַאֲנָא הָא יְהָבִית לָךְ יָת מַטְּרַת אַפְרָשׁוּתָי לְכָל קוּדְשַׁיָּא דִבְנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל לָךְ יְהַבְתִּנּוּן לִרְבוּ וְלִבְנָיךְ לִקְיַם עֳלָם:
ואני הנה נתתי לך. בְּשִׂמְחָה, לְשׁוֹן שִׂמְחָה הוּא זֶה, כְּמוֹ "הִנֵּה הוּא יֹצֵא לִקְרָאתֶךָ וְרָאֲךָ וְשָׂמַח בְּלִבּוֹ" (שמות ד'); מָשָׁל לְמֶלֶךְ שֶׁנָּתַן שָׂדֶה לְאוֹהֲבוֹ, וְלֹא כָתַב וְלֹא חָתַם וְלֹא הֶעֱלָה בְעַרְכָּאִין, בָּא אֶחָד וְעִרְעֵר עַל הַשָּׂדֶה, אָמַר לוֹ הַמֶּלֶךְ כָּל מִי שֶׁיִּרְצֶה יָבֹא וִיעַרְעֵר לְנֶגְדְּךָ, הֲרֵינִי כוֹתֵב וְחוֹתֵם לְךָ וּמַעֲלֶה בְעַרְכָּאִין, אַף כָּאן, לְפִי שֶׁבָּא קֹרַח וְעִרְעֵר כְּנֶגֶד אַהֲרֹן עַל הַכְּהֻנָּה, בָּא הַכָּתוּב וְנָתַן לוֹ כ"ד מַתְּנוֹת כְּהֻנָּה בִּבְרִית מֶלַח עוֹלָם, וְלְכָךְ נִסְמְכָה פָרָשָׁה זוֹ לְכָאן (ספרי):
משמרת תרומתי. שֶׁאַתָּה צָרִיךְ לְשָׁמְרָן בְּטָהֳרָה:
למשחה. לִגְדֻלָּה (שם):
י"ח:ט׳
זֶֽה־יִהְיֶ֥ה לְךָ֛ מִקֹּ֥דֶשׁ הַקֳּדָשִׁ֖ים מִן־הָאֵ֑שׁ כָּל־קָ֠רְבָּנָם לְֽכָל־מִנְחָתָ֞ם וּלְכָל־חַטָּאתָ֗ם וּלְכָל־אֲשָׁמָם֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר יָשִׁ֣יבוּ לִ֔י קֹ֣דֶשׁ קָֽדָשִׁ֥ים לְךָ֛ ה֖וּא וּלְבָנֶֽיךָ׃
18:9
This shall be yours from the most holy sacrifices, cMeaning of Heb. uncertain; lit. “from the fire.”the offerings by fire:-c every such offering that they render to Me as most holy sacrifices, namely, every meal offering, sin offering, and guilt offering of theirs, shall belong to you and your sons.

This shall be thine of the most holy things, reserved from the fire: every offering of theirs, even every meal-offering of theirs, and every sin-offering of theirs, and every guilt-offering of theirs, which they may render unto Me, shall be most holy for thee and for thy sons.

דֵּין יְהֵי לָךְ מִקּוֹדֶשׁ קוּדְשַׁיָּא מוֹתַר מִן אֶשָּׁתָא כָּל קוּרְבָּנֵיהוֹן לְכָל מִנְחַתְהוֹן וּלְכָל חַטְוַתְהוֹן וּלְכָל אֲשַׁמְהוֹן דִּי יְתִיבוּן קֳדָמַי קוֹדֶשׁ קוּדְשִׁין דִּי לָךְ הוּא וְלִבְנָיךְ:
מן האש. לְאַחַר הַקְטָרַת הָאִשִּׁים:
כל קרבנם. כְּגוֹן זִבְחֵי שַׁלְמֵי צִבּוּר:
מנחתם חטאתם ואשמתם. כְּמַשְׁמָעוֹ:
אשר ישיבו לי. זֶה גֶּזֶל הַגֵּר (שם; זבחים מ"ד):
י"ח:י׳
בְּקֹ֥דֶשׁ הַקֳּדָשִׁ֖ים תֹּאכֲלֶ֑נּוּ כָּל־זָכָר֙ יֹאכַ֣ל אֹת֔וֹ קֹ֖דֶשׁ יִֽהְיֶה־לָּֽךְ׃
18:10
You shall partake of them as most sacred donations: only males may eat them; you shall treat them as consecrated.dOr “they are consecrated for your use.”

In a most holy place shalt thou eat thereof; every male may eat thereof; it shall be holy unto thee.

בְּקֹדֶשׁ קוּדְשִׁין תֵּכְלֻנֵּיהּ כָּל דְּכוּרָא יֵיכוּל יָתֵיהּ קוּדְשָׁא יְהֵי לָךְ:
בקדש הקדשים תאכלנו וגו'. לִמֵּד עַל קָדְשֵׁי קֳדָשִׁים שֶׁאֵין נֶאֱכָלִין אֶלָּא בָּעֲזָרָה לְזִכְרֵי כְהֻנָּה:
י"ח:י"א
וְזֶה־לְּךָ֞ תְּרוּמַ֣ת מַתָּנָ֗ם לְכָל־תְּנוּפֹת֮ בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵל֒ לְךָ֣ נְתַתִּ֗ים וּלְבָנֶ֧יךָ וְלִבְנֹתֶ֛יךָ אִתְּךָ֖ לְחָק־עוֹלָ֑ם כָּל־טָה֥וֹר בְּבֵיתְךָ֖ יֹאכַ֥ל אֹתֽוֹ׃
18:11
This, too, shall be yours: the gift offeringseCf. Lev. 7.29 ff. of their contributions, all the elevation offerings of the Israelites, I give to you, to your sons, and to the daughters that are with you, as a due for all time; everyone of your household who is clean may eat it.

And this is thine: the heave-offering of their gift, even all the wave-offerings of the children of Israel; I have given them unto thee, and to thy sons and to thy daughters with thee, as a due for ever; every one that is clean in thy house may eat thereof.

וְדֵין לָךְ אַפְרָשׁוּת מַתְּנַתְהוֹן לְכָל אֲרַמוּת בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל לָךְ יְהַבְתִּנּוּן וְלִבְנָיךְ וְלִבְנָתָיךְ עִמָּךְ לִקְיַם עֳלָם כָּל דִּדְכֵי בְּבֵיתָךְ יֵיכוּל יָתֵיהּ:
תרומת מתנם. הַמּוּרָם מִן הַתּוֹדָה וּמֵהַשְּׁלָמִים וּמֵאֵיל נָזִיר:
לכל תנופת. שֶׁהֲרֵי אֵלּוּ טְעוּנִין תְּנוּפָה:
כל טהור. וְלֹא טְמֵאִים; דָּ"אַ: כָּל טָהוֹר לְרַבּוֹת אִשְׁתּוֹ:

All the best of the new oil, wine, and grain—the choice parts that they present to the LORD—I give to you.

The first fruits of everything in their land, that they bring to the LORD, shall be yours; everyone of your household who is clean may eat them.

The first issue of the womb of every being, man or beast, that is offered to the LORD, shall be yours; but you shall have the first-born of man redeemed, and you shall also have the firstling of unclean animals redeemed.

Take as their redemption price,gI.e., for human first-born; cf. Num. 3.44 ff. For animals see Exod. 34.19 f. from the age of one month up, the money equivalent of five shekels by the sanctuary weight, which is twenty gerahs.

And their redemption-money—from a month old shalt thou redeem them—shall be, according to thy valuation, five shekels of silver, after the shekel of the sanctuary—the same is twenty gerahs.

But the firstlings of cattle, sheep, or goats may not be redeemed; they are consecrated. You shall dash their blood against the altar, and turn their fat into smoke as an offering by fire for a pleasing odor to the LORD.

But the firstling of an ox, or the firstling of a sheep, or the firstling of a goat, thou shalt not redeem; they are holy: thou shalt dash their blood against the altar, and shalt make their fat smoke for an offering made by fire, for a sweet savour unto the LORD.

But their meat shall be yours: it shall be yours like the breast of elevation offering and like the right thigh.

לך יהיה. בָּא רַבִּי עֲקִיבָא וְלִמֵּד, וְהוֹסִיף לְךָ הַכָּתוּב הֲוָיָה אַחֶרֶת, שֶׁלֹא תֹאמַר, כְּחָזֶה וְשׁוֹק שֶׁל תּוֹדָה שֶׁאֵינוֹ נֶאֱכָל אֶלָּא לְיוֹם וָלַיְלָה (זבחים נ"ז):

All the sacred gifts that the Israelites set aside for the LORD I give to you, to your sons, and to the daughters that are with you, as a due for all time. It shall be an everlasting covenant of salthSee Lev. 2.13. before the LORD for you and for your offspring as well.

כל תרומת הקדשים. מֵחִבָּתָהּ שֶל פָּרָשָׁה זוֹ כְּלָלָהּ בַּתְּחִלָּה וּכְלָלָהּ בַּסּוֹף וּפָרַט בָּאֶמְצַע (עי' ספרי):
ברית מלח עולם. כָּרַת בְּרִית עִם אַהֲרֹן בְּדָבָר הַבָּרִיא וּמִתְקַיֵּם וּמַבְרִיא אֶת אֲחֵרִים (שם):
ברית מלח. כַּבְּרִית הַכְּרוּתָה לַמֶּלַח שֶׁאֵינוֹ מַסְרִיחַ לְעוֹלָם:

וַיֹּ֨אמֶר יְהוָ֜ה אֶֽל־אַהֲרֹ֗ן בְּאַרְצָם֙ לֹ֣א תִנְחָ֔ל וְחֵ֕לֶק לֹא־יִהְיֶ֥ה לְךָ֖ בְּתוֹכָ֑ם אֲנִ֤י חֶלְקְךָ֙ וְנַחֲלָ֣תְךָ֔ בְּת֖וֹךְ בְּנֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ (ס)

And the LORD said to Aaron: You shall, however, have no territorial share among them or own any portion in their midst; I am your portion and your share among the Israelites.

And the LORD said unto Aaron: ‘Thou shalt have no inheritance in their land, neither shalt thou have any portion among them; I am thy portion and thine inheritance among the children of Israel.
