וּמַלִּיל יְיָ עִם משֶׁה לְמֵימָר:
כ"ג:ל"ד
דַּבֵּ֛ר אֶל־בְּנֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל לֵאמֹ֑ר בַּחֲמִשָּׁ֨ה עָשָׂ֜ר י֗וֹם לַחֹ֤דֶשׁ הַשְּׁבִיעִי֙ הַזֶּ֔ה חַ֧ג הַסֻּכּ֛וֹת שִׁבְעַ֥ת יָמִ֖ים לַיהֹוָֽה׃

Say to the Israelite people: On the fifteenth day of this seventh month there shall be the Feast of BoothscOthers “Tabernacles.” to the LORD, [to last] seven days.

Speak unto the children of Israel, saying: On the fifteenth day of this seventh month is the feast of tabernacles for seven days unto the LORD.

מַלֵּיל עִם בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל לְמֵימָר בְּחַמְשָׁא עַשְׁרָא יוֹמָא לְיַרְחָא שְׁבִיעָאָה הָדֵין חַגָּא דִמְטַלַּיָּא שִׁבְעַת יוֹמִין קֳדָם יְיָ:

בַּיּ֥וֹם הָרִאשׁ֖וֹן מִקְרָא־קֹ֑דֶשׁ כָּל־מְלֶ֥אכֶת עֲבֹדָ֖ה לֹ֥א תַעֲשֽׂוּ׃

The first day shall be a sacred occasion: you shall not work at your occupations;

On the first day shall be a holy convocation; ye shall do no manner of servile work.

בְּיוֹמָא קַדְמָאָה מְעָרַע קַדִּישׁ כָּל עִבִידַת פָּלְחָן לָא תַעְבְּדוּן:
מקרא קדשׁ. קַדְּשֵׁהוּ בִכְסוּת נְקִיָּה וּבִתְפִלָּה, וּבִשְׁאָר יָמִים טוֹבִים בְּמַאֲכָל וּבְמִשְׁתֶּה וּבִכְסוּת נְקִיָּה וּבִתְפִלָּה (עי' ספרא):

שִׁבְעַ֣ת יָמִ֔ים תַּקְרִ֥יבוּ אִשֶּׁ֖ה לַיהוָ֑ה בַּיּ֣וֹם הַשְּׁמִינִ֡י מִקְרָא־קֹדֶשׁ֩ יִהְיֶ֨ה לָכֶ֜ם וְהִקְרַבְתֶּ֨ם אִשֶּׁ֤ה לַֽיהוָה֙ עֲצֶ֣רֶת הִ֔וא כָּל־מְלֶ֥אכֶת עֲבֹדָ֖ה לֹ֥א תַעֲשֽׂוּ׃

seven days you shall bring offerings by fire to the LORD. On the eighth day you shall observe a sacred occasion and bring an offering by fire to the LORD; it is a solemn gathering:dPrecise meaning of Heb. ‘aṣereth uncertain. you shall not work at your occupations.

Seven days ye shall bring an offering made by fire unto the LORD; on the eighth day shall be a holy convocation unto you; and ye shall bring an offering made by fire unto the LORD; it is a day of solemn assembly; ye shall do no manner of servile work.

שִׁבְעָא יוֹמִין תְּקָרְבוּן קֻרְבָּנָא קֳדָם יְיָ בְּיוֹמָא תְמִינָאָה מְעָרַע קַדִּישׁ יְהֵי לְכוֹן וּתְקָרְבוּן קֻרְבָּנָא קֳדָם יְיָ כְּנֵשׁ תְּהוֹן כָּל עִבִידַת פָּלְחָן לָא תַעְבְּדוּן:
עצרת הוא. עָצַרְתִּי אֶתְכֶם אֶצְלִי; כְּמֶלֶךְ שֶׁזִּמֵּן אֶת בָּנָיו לִסְעוּדָה לְכָךְ וְכָךְ יָמִים, כֵּיוָן שֶׁהִגִּיעַ זְמַנָּן לִפָּטֵר, אָמַר, בָּנַי בְּבַקָּשָׁה מִכֶּם עַכְּבוּ עִמִּי עוֹד יוֹם אֶחָד, קָשָׁה עָלַי פְּרֵדַתְכֶם:
כל מלאכת עבדה. אֲפִלּוּ מְלָאכָה שֶׁהִיא עֲבוֹדָה לָכֶם, שֶׁאִם לֹא תַעֲשׂוּהָ יֵשׁ חֶסְרוֹן כִּיס בַּדָּבָר.
לא תעשו. יָכוֹל אַף חֻלּוֹ שֶׁל מוֹעֵד יְהֵא אָסוּר בִּמְלֶאכֶת עֲבוֹדָה, תַּ"לֹ "הִוא" (שם):

אֵ֚לֶּה מוֹעֲדֵ֣י יְהוָ֔ה אֲשֶׁר־תִּקְרְא֥וּ אֹתָ֖ם מִקְרָאֵ֣י קֹ֑דֶשׁ לְהַקְרִ֨יב אִשֶּׁ֜ה לַיהוָ֗ה עֹלָ֧ה וּמִנְחָ֛ה זֶ֥בַח וּנְסָכִ֖ים דְּבַר־י֥וֹם בְּיוֹמֽוֹ׃
23:37
Those are the set times of the LORD that you shall celebrate as sacred occasions, bringing offerings by fire to the LORD—burnt offerings, meal offerings, sacrifices, and libations, on each day what is proper to it—

These are the appointed seasons of the LORD, which ye shall proclaim to be holy convocations, to bring an offering made by fire unto the LORD, a burnt-offering, and a meal-offering, a sacrifice, and drink-offerings, each on its own day;

אִלֵּין מוֹעֲדַיָּא דַיְיָ דִּי תְעָרְעוּן יָתְהוֹן מְעָרְעֵי קַדִּישׁ לְקָרָבָא קֻרְבָּנָא קֳדָם יְיָ עֲלָתָא וּמִנְחָתָא נִכְסַת קוּדְשִׁין וְנִסּוּכִין פִּתְגַם יוֹם בְּיוֹמֵיהּ:
עלה ומנחה. מִנְחַת נְסָכִים הַקְּרֵבָה עִם הָעוֹלָה:
דבר יום ביומו. חֹק הַקָּצוּב בְּחֻמַּשׁ הַפְּקוּדִים:
דבר יום ביומו. הָא אִם עָבַר יוֹמוֹ בָּטֵל קָרְבָּנוֹ (עי' ספרא):

מִלְּבַ֖ד שַׁבְּתֹ֣ת יְּהוָ֑ה וּמִלְּבַ֣ד מַתְּנֽוֹתֵיכֶ֗ם וּמִלְּבַ֤ד כָּל־נִדְרֵיכֶם֙ וּמִלְּבַד֙ כָּל־נִדְב֣וֹתֵיכֶ֔ם אֲשֶׁ֥ר תִּתְּנ֖וּ לַיהוָֽה׃
23:38
apart from the sabbaths of the LORD, and apart from your gifts and from all your votive offerings and from all your freewill offerings that you give to the LORD.

beside the sabbaths of the LORD, and beside your gifts, and beside all your vows, and beside all your freewill-offerings, which ye give unto the LORD.

בַּר שַׁבַּיָּא דַיְיָ וּבַר מַתְּנָתֵיכוֹן וּבַר כָּל נִדְרֵיכוֹן וּבַר כָּל נִדְבָתֵיכוֹן דִּי תִתְּנוּן קֳדָם יְיָ:

אַ֡ךְ בַּחֲמִשָּׁה֩ עָשָׂ֨ר י֜וֹם לַחֹ֣דֶשׁ הַשְּׁבִיעִ֗י בְּאָסְפְּכֶם֙ אֶת־תְּבוּאַ֣ת הָאָ֔רֶץ תָּחֹ֥גּוּ אֶת־חַג־יְהוָ֖ה שִׁבְעַ֣ת יָמִ֑ים בַּיּ֤וֹם הָֽרִאשׁוֹן֙ שַׁבָּת֔וֹן וּבַיּ֥וֹם הַשְּׁמִינִ֖י שַׁבָּתֽוֹן׃

Mark, on the fifteenth day of the seventh month, when you have gathered in the yield of your land, you shall observe the festival of the LORD [to last] seven days: a complete rest on the first day, and a complete rest on the eighth day.

Howbeit on the fifteenth day of the seventh month, when ye have gathered in the fruits of the land, ye shall keep the feast of the LORD seven days; on the first day shall be a solemn rest, and on the eighth day shall be a solemn rest.

בְּרַם בְּחַמְשָׁא עֲשַׁר יוֹמָא לְיַרְחָא שְׁבִיעָאָה בְּמִכְנְשֵׁיכוֹן יָת עֲלַלַת אַרְעָא תְּחַגּוּן יָת חַגָּא קֳדָם יְיָ שִׁבְעָא יוֹמִין בְּיוֹמָא קַדְמָאָה נְיָחָא וּבְיוֹמָא תְמִינָאָה נְיָחָא:
אך בחמשה עשר יום, תחגו. קָרְבַּן שְׁלָמִים לַחֲגִיגָה, יָכוֹל תִּדְחֶה אֶת הַשַּׁבָּת, תַּ"לֹ אַךְ, הוֹאִיל וְיֵשׁ לָהּ תַּשְׁלוּמִין כָּל שִׁבְעָה:
באספכם את תבואת הארץ. שֶׁיְּהֵא חֹדֶשׁ שְׁבִיעִי זֶה בָּא בִּזְמַן אֲסִיפָה, מִכָּאן שֶׁנִּצְטַוּוּ לְעַבֵּר אֶת הַשָּׁנִים, שֶׁאִם אֵין הָעִבּוּר, פְּעָמִים שֶׁהוּא בְאֶמְצַע הַקַּיִץ אוֹ הַחֹרֶף:
תחגו. שַׁלְמֵי חֲגִיגָה:
שבעת ימים. אִם לֹא הֵבִיא בָזֶה, יָבִיא בָזֶה, יָכוֹל יְהֵא מְבִיאָן כָּל שִׁבְעָה, תַּלְמוּד לוֹמַר וחגתם אתו — יוֹם אֶחָד בְּמַשְׁמָע וְלֹא יוֹתֵר, וְלָמָּה נֶאֱמַר שִׁבְעָה? לְתַשְׁלוּמִין (חגיגה ט'):

וּלְקַחְתֶּ֨ם לָכֶ֜ם בַּיּ֣וֹם הָרִאשׁ֗וֹן פְּרִ֨י עֵ֤ץ הָדָר֙ כַּפֹּ֣ת תְּמָרִ֔ים וַעֲנַ֥ף עֵץ־עָבֹ֖ת וְעַרְבֵי־נָ֑חַל וּשְׂמַחְתֶּ֗ם לִפְנֵ֛י יְהוָ֥ה אֱלֹהֵיכֶ֖ם שִׁבְעַ֥ת יָמִֽים׃
23:40
On the first day you shall take the product of hadareOthers “goodly”; exact meaning of Heb. hadar uncertain. Traditionally the product is understood as “citron.” trees, branches of palm trees, boughs of leafyfMeaning of Heb. aboth uncertain. trees, and willows of the brook, and you shall rejoice before the LORD your God seven days.

And ye shall take you on the first day the fruit of goodly trees, branches of palm-trees, and boughs of thick trees, and willows of the brook, and ye shall rejoice before the LORD your God seven days.

וְתִסְּבוּן לְכוֹן בְּיוֹמָא קַדְמָאָה פֵּרֵי אִילָנָא אֶתְרוֹגִין וְלֻלַּבִּין וַהֲדַסִּין וְעַרְבִין דִּנְחָל וְתֶחֱדוּן קֳדָם יְיָ אֱלָהָכוֹן שַׁבְעַת יוֹמִין:
פרי עץ הדר. עֵץ שֶׁטַּעַם עֵצוֹ וּפִרְיוֹ שָׁוֶה (סכה ל"ה):
הדר. הַדָּר בְּאִילָנוֹ מִשָּׁנָה לְשָׁנָה, וְזֶהוּ אֶתְרוֹג (שם):
כפת תמרים. חָסֵר וי"ו, לִמֵּד שֶׁאֵינָהּ אֶלָּא אַחַת:
וענף עץ עבת. שֶׁעֲנָפָיו קְלוּעִים כַּעֲבוֹתוֹת וְכַחֲבָלִים, וְזֶהוּ הֲדַס, הֶעָשׂוּי כְּמִין קְלִיעָה (שם ל"ב):
כ"ג:מ"א
וְחַגֹּתֶ֤ם אֹתוֹ֙ חַ֣ג לַֽיהוָ֔ה שִׁבְעַ֥ת יָמִ֖ים בַּשָּׁנָ֑ה חֻקַּ֤ת עוֹלָם֙ לְדֹרֹ֣תֵיכֶ֔ם בַּחֹ֥דֶשׁ הַשְּׁבִיעִ֖י תָּחֹ֥גּוּ אֹתֽוֹ׃
23:41
You shall observe it as a festival of the LORD for seven days in the year; you shall observe it in the seventh month as a law for all time, throughout the ages.

And ye shall keep it a feast unto the LORD seven days in the year; it is a statute for ever in your generations; ye shall keep it in the seventh month.

בַּסֻּכֹּ֥ת תֵּשְׁב֖וּ שִׁבְעַ֣ת יָמִ֑ים כָּל־הָֽאֶזְרָח֙ בְּיִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל יֵשְׁב֖וּ בַּסֻּכֹּֽת׃
23:42
You shall live in booths seven days; all citizens in Israel shall live in booths,

Ye shall dwell in booths seven days; all that are home-born in Israel shall dwell in booths;

בִּמְטַלַּיָּא תֵיתְבוּן שַׁבְעַת יוֹמִין כָּל יַצִּיבָא בְּיִשְׂרָאֵל יֵתְבוּן בִּמְטַלַּיָּא:
האזרח. זֶה אֶזְרָח, בישראל — לְרַבּוֹת אֶת הַגֵּרִים (ספרא):

לְמַעַן֮ יֵדְע֣וּ דֹרֹֽתֵיכֶם֒ כִּ֣י בַסֻּכּ֗וֹת הוֹשַׁ֙בְתִּי֙ אֶת־בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל בְּהוֹצִיאִ֥י אוֹתָ֖ם מֵאֶ֣רֶץ מִצְרָ֑יִם אֲנִ֖י יְהוָ֥ה אֱלֹהֵיכֶֽם׃

in order that future generations may know that I made the Israelite people live in booths when I brought them out of the land of Egypt, I the LORD your God.

that your generations may know that I made the children of Israel to dwell in booths, when I brought them out of the land of Egypt: I am the LORD your God.

בְּדִיל דִּיִדְּעוּן דָּרֵיכוֹן אֲרֵי בִמְטַלָּיוּת עֲנָנֵי אוֹתֵבִית יָת בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל בְּאַפָּקוּתִי יָתְהוֹן מֵאַרְעָא דְמִצְרָיִם אֲנָא יְיָ אֱלָהָכוֹן:
כי בסכות הושבתי. עַנְנֵי כָבוֹד (שם; מכילתא י"ב):

וַיְדַבֵּ֣ר מֹשֶׁ֔ה אֶת־מֹעֲדֵ֖י יְהוָ֑ה אֶל־בְּנֵ֖י יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ (פ)

So Moses declared to the Israelites the set times of the LORD.

And Moses declared unto the children of Israel the appointed seasons of the LORD.
