וַיְדַבֵּ֥ר יְהוָ֖ה אֶל־מֹשֶׁ֥ה לֵּאמֹֽר׃

The LORD spoke to Moses, saying:

וּמַלִּיל יְיָ עִם משֶׁה לְמֵימָר:
כ"ג:כ"ד
דַּבֵּ֛ר אֶל־בְּנֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל לֵאמֹ֑ר בַּחֹ֨דֶשׁ הַשְּׁבִיעִ֜י בְּאֶחָ֣ד לַחֹ֗דֶשׁ יִהְיֶ֤ה לָכֶם֙ שַׁבָּת֔וֹן זִכְר֥וֹן תְּרוּעָ֖ה מִקְרָא־קֹֽדֶשׁ׃
23:24
Speak to the Israelite people thus: In the seventh month, on the first day of the month, you shall observe complete rest, a sacred occasion commemorated with loud blasts.

Speak unto the children of Israel, saying: In the seventh month, in the first day of the month, shall be a solemn rest unto you, a memorial proclaimed with the blast of horns, a holy convocation.

מַלֵּיל עִם בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל לְמֵימָר בְּיַרְחָא שְׁבִיעָאָה בְּחַד לְיַרְחָא יְהֵי לְכוֹן נְיָחָא דּוּכְרַן יַבָּבָא מְעָרַע קַדִּישׁ:
זכרון תרועה. זִכְרוֹן פְּסוּקֵי זִכְרוֹנוֹת וּפְסוּקֵי שׁוֹפָרוֹת (ספרא: ראש השנה ל"ב) לִזְכֹּר לָכֶם עֲקֵדַת יִצְחָק שֶׁקָּרַב תַּחְתָּיו אַיִל:

כָּל־מְלֶ֥אכֶת עֲבֹדָ֖ה לֹ֣א תַעֲשׂ֑וּ וְהִקְרַבְתֶּ֥ם אִשֶּׁ֖ה לַיהוָֽה׃ (ס)

You shall not work at your occupations; and you shall bring an offering by fire to the LORD.

Ye shall do no manner of servile work; and ye shall bring an offering made by fire unto the LORD.
כ"ג:כ"ה
כָּל עִבִידַת פָּלְחָנָא לָא תַעְבְּדוּן וּתְקָרְבוּן קֻרְבָּנָא קֳדָם יְיָ:
והקרבתם אשה. הַמּוּסָפִין הָאֲמוּרִין בְּחֻמַּשׁ הַפְּקוּדִים:

וַיְדַבֵּ֥ר יְהוָ֖ה אֶל־מֹשֶׁ֥ה לֵּאמֹֽר׃

וּמַלִּיל יְיָ עִם משֶׁה לְמֵימָר:
כ"ג:כ"ז
אַ֡ךְ בֶּעָשׂ֣וֹר לַחֹדֶשׁ֩ הַשְּׁבִיעִ֨י הַזֶּ֜ה י֧וֹם הַכִּפֻּרִ֣ים ה֗וּא מִֽקְרָא־קֹ֙דֶשׁ֙ יִהְיֶ֣ה לָכֶ֔ם וְעִנִּיתֶ֖ם אֶת־נַפְשֹׁתֵיכֶ֑ם וְהִקְרַבְתֶּ֥ם אִשֶּׁ֖ה לַיהוָֽה׃
23:27
Mark, the tenth day of this seventh month is the Day of Atonement. It shall be a sacred occasion for you: you shall practice self-denial, and you shall bring an offering by fire to the LORD;

Howbeit on the tenth day of this seventh month is the day of atonement; there shall be a holy convocation unto you, and ye shall afflict your souls; and ye shall bring an offering made by fire unto the LORD.
כ"ג:כ"ז
בְּרַם בְּעַשְׂרָא לְיַרְחָא שְׁבִיעָאָה הָדֵין יוֹמָא דְכִפּוּרַיָּא הוּא מְעָרַע קַדִּישׁ יְהֵי לְכוֹן וּתְעַנּוּן יָת נַפְשָׁתֵיכוֹן וּתְקָרְבוּן קֻרְבָּנָא קֳדָם יְיָ:
אך. כָּל אַכִין וְרַקִּין שֶׁבַּתּוֹרָה מִעוּטִים — מְכַפֵּר הוּא לַשָּׁבִים וְאֵינוֹ מְכַפֵּר עַל שֶׁאֵינָם שָׁבִים (ספרא):
כ"ג:כ"ח
וְכָל־מְלָאכָה֙ לֹ֣א תַעֲשׂ֔וּ בְּעֶ֖צֶם הַיּ֣וֹם הַזֶּ֑ה כִּ֣י י֤וֹם כִּפֻּרִים֙ ה֔וּא לְכַפֵּ֣ר עֲלֵיכֶ֔ם לִפְנֵ֖י יְהוָ֥ה אֱלֹהֵיכֶֽם׃
23:28
you shall do no work throughout that day. For it is a Day of Atonement, on which expiation is made on your behalf before the LORD your God.

And ye shall do no manner of work in that same day; for it is a day of atonement, to make atonement for you before the LORD your God.
כ"ג:כ"ח
וְכָל עִבִידָא לָא תַעְבְּדוּן בִּכְרַן יוֹמָא הָדֵין אֲרֵי יוֹמָא דְכִפּוּרַיָּא הוּא לְכַפָּרָא עֲלֵיכוֹן קֳדָם יְיָ אֱלָהָכוֹן:
כ"ג:כ"ט
כִּ֤י כָל־הַנֶּ֙פֶשׁ֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר לֹֽא־תְעֻנֶּ֔ה בְּעֶ֖צֶם הַיּ֣וֹם הַזֶּ֑ה וְנִכְרְתָ֖ה מֵֽעַמֶּֽיהָ׃
23:29
Indeed, any person who does not practice self-denial throughout that day shall be cut off from his kin;

For whatsoever soul it be that shall not be afflicted in that same day, he shall be cut off from his people.

אֲרֵי כָל אֲנָשָׁא דִּי לָא מִתְעַנֵּי בִּכְרַן יוֹמָא הָדֵין וְיִשְׁתֵּיצֵי מֵעַמָּהָא:
כ"ג:ל׳
וְכָל־הַנֶּ֗פֶשׁ אֲשֶׁ֤ר תַּעֲשֶׂה֙ כָּל־מְלָאכָ֔ה בְּעֶ֖צֶם הַיּ֣וֹם הַזֶּ֑ה וְהַֽאֲבַדְתִּ֛י אֶת־הַנֶּ֥פֶשׁ הַהִ֖וא מִקֶּ֥רֶב עַמָּֽהּ׃
23:30
and whoever does any work throughout that day, I will cause that person to perish from among his people.

And whatsoever soul it be that doeth any manner of work in that same day, that soul will I destroy from among his people.
כ"ג:ל׳
וְכָל אֱנַשׁ דִּי תַעְבֵּד כָּל עִבִידָא בִּכְרַן יוֹמָא הָדֵין וְאוֹבֵד יָת אֲנָשָׁא הַהִיא מִגּוֹ עַמַּהּ:
והאבדתי. לְפִי שֶׁהוּא אוֹמֵר כָּרֵת בְּכָל מָקוֹם וְאֵינִי יוֹדֵעַ מַה הוּא, כְּשֶׁהוּא אוֹמֵר וְהַאֲבַדְתִּי, לִמֵּד עַל הַכָּרֵת שֶׁאֵינוֹ אֶלָּא אֲבַדּוֹן:
כ"ג:ל"א
כָּל־מְלָאכָ֖ה לֹ֣א תַעֲשׂ֑וּ חֻקַּ֤ת עוֹלָם֙ לְדֹרֹ֣תֵיכֶ֔ם בְּכֹ֖ל מֹֽשְׁבֹֽתֵיכֶֽם׃
23:31
Do no work whatever; it is a law for all time, throughout the ages in all your settlements.

Ye shall do no manner of work; it is a statute for ever throughout your generations in all your dwellings.
כ"ג:ל"א
כָּל עִבִידָא לָא תַעְבְּדוּן קְיַם עָלָם לְדָרֵיכוֹן בְּכֹל מוֹתְבָנֵיכוֹן:
כל מלאכה וגו'. לַעֲבֹר עָלָיו בְּלָאוִין הַרְבֵּה, אוֹ לְהַזְהִיר עַל מְלֶאכֶת לַיְלָה כִּמְלֶאכֶת יוֹם:
כ"ג:ל"ב
שַׁבַּ֨ת שַׁבָּת֥וֹן הוּא֙ לָכֶ֔ם וְעִנִּיתֶ֖ם אֶת־נַפְשֹׁתֵיכֶ֑ם בְּתִשְׁעָ֤ה לַחֹ֙דֶשׁ֙ בָּעֶ֔רֶב מֵעֶ֣רֶב עַד־עֶ֔רֶב תִּשְׁבְּת֖וּ שַׁבַּתְּכֶֽם׃ (פ)
23:32
It shall be a sabbath of complete rest for you, and you shall practice self-denial; on the ninth day of the month at evening, from evening to evening, you shall observe this your sabbath.

It shall be unto you a sabbath of solemn rest, and ye shall afflict your souls; in the ninth day of the month at even, from even unto even, shall ye keep your sabbath.

שְׁבַת שְׁבָתָא הוּא לְכוֹן וּתְעַנּוּן יָת נַפְשָׁתֵיכוֹן בְּתִישְׁעָא לְיַרְחָא בְּרַמְשָׁא מֵרַמְשָׁא עַד רַמְשָׁא תְּנוּחוּן נְיַחֲכוֹן:
