ב׳:ל"א וַיֹּ֤אמֶר יְהוָה֙ אֵלַ֔י רְאֵ֗ה הַֽחִלֹּ֙תִי֙ תֵּ֣ת לְפָנֶ֔יךָ אֶת־סִיחֹ֖ן וְאֶת־אַרְצ֑וֹ הָחֵ֣ל רָ֔שׁ לָרֶ֖שֶׁת אֶת־אַרְצֽוֹ׃
2:31 And the LORD said to me: See, I begin by placing Sihon and his land at your disposal. Begin the occupation; take possession of his land.
2:31 And the LORD said unto me: ‘Behold, I have begun to deliver up Sihon and his land before thee; begin to possess his land.’
ב׳:ל"א וַאֲמַר יְיָ לִי חֲזֵי שָׁרֵיתִי לְמִמְסַר קֳדָמָךְ יָת סִיחֹן וְיָת אַרְעֵיהּ שְׁרֵי לְתָרָכוּתֵיהּ לְמֵירַת יָת אַרְעֵיהּ:
ב׳:ל"ב וַיֵּצֵא֩ סִיחֹ֨ן לִקְרָאתֵ֜נוּ ה֧וּא וְכָל־עַמּ֛וֹ לַמִּלְחָמָ֖ה יָֽהְצָה׃
2:32 Sihon with all his men took the field against us at Jahaz,
2:32 Then Sihon came out against us, he and all his people, unto battle at Jahaz.
ב׳:ל"ב וּנְפַק סִיחֹן לְקַדָּמוּתָנָא הוּא וְכָל עַמֵּיהּ לַאֲגָחָא קְרָבָא לְיָהַץ:
ב׳:ל"ג וַֽיִּתְּנֵ֛הוּ יְהוָ֥ה אֱלֹהֵ֖ינוּ לְפָנֵ֑ינוּ וַנַּ֥ךְ אֹת֛וֹ וְאֶת־בנו [בָּנָ֖יו] וְאֶת־כָּל־עַמּֽוֹ׃
2:33 and the LORD our God delivered him to us and we defeated him and his sons and all his men.
2:33 And the LORD our God delivered him up before us; and we smote him, and his sons, and all his people.
ב׳:ל"ג וּמָסְרֵיהּ יְיָ אֱלָהָנָא קֳדָמָנָא וּמְחֵנָא יָתֵיהּ וְיָת בְּנוֹהִי וְיָת כָּל עַמֵּיהּ:
ב׳:ל"ד וַנִּלְכֹּ֤ד אֶת־כָּל־עָרָיו֙ בָּעֵ֣ת הַהִ֔וא וַֽנַּחֲרֵם֙ אֶת־כָּל־עִ֣יר מְתִ֔ם וְהַנָּשִׁ֖ים וְהַטָּ֑ף לֹ֥א הִשְׁאַ֖רְנוּ שָׂרִֽיד׃
2:34 At that time we captured all his towns, and we doomedeI.e., placed under ḥerem, which meant the annihilation of the population. Cf. note b at Num. 21.2; Josh. 6.24. every town—men, women, and children—leaving no survivor.
2:34 And we took all his cities at that time, and utterly destroyed every city, the men, and the women, and the little ones; we left none remaining;
ב׳:ל"ד וּכְבַשְׁנָא יָת כָּל קִרְווֹהִי בְּעִדָּנָא הַהִיא וְגַמַּרְנָא יָת כָּל קִרְוֵי גֻבְרַיָּא וּנְשַׁיָּא וְטַפְלָא לָא אַשְׁאַרְנָא מְשֵׁזֵב:
ב׳:ל"ה רַ֥ק הַבְּהֵמָ֖ה בָּזַ֣זְנוּ לָ֑נוּ וּשְׁלַ֥ל הֶעָרִ֖ים אֲשֶׁ֥ר לָכָֽדְנוּ׃
2:35 We retained as booty only the cattle and the spoil of the cities that we captured.
2:35 only the cattle we took for a prey unto ourselves, with the spoil of the cities which we had taken.
ב׳:ל"ה לְחוֹד בְּעִירָא בַּזָּנָא לָנָא וַעֲדִי קִרְוַיָּא דִּי כְבַשְׁנָא:
ב׳:ל"ו מֵֽעֲרֹעֵ֡ר אֲשֶׁר֩ עַל־שְׂפַת־נַ֨חַל אַרְנֹ֜ן וְהָעִ֨יר אֲשֶׁ֤ר בַּנַּ֙חַל֙ וְעַד־הַגִּלְעָ֔ד לֹ֤א הָֽיְתָה֙ קִרְיָ֔ה אֲשֶׁ֥ר שָׂגְבָ֖ה מִמֶּ֑נּוּ אֶת־הַכֹּ֕ל נָתַ֛ן יְהוָ֥ה אֱלֹהֵ֖ינוּ לְפָנֵֽינוּ׃
2:36 From Aroer on the edge of the Arnon valley, including the townfMeaning of Heb. uncertain. in the valley itself, to Gilead, not a city was too mighty for us; the LORD our God delivered everything to us.
2:36 From Aroer, which is on the edge of the valley of Arnon, and from the city that is in the valley, even unto Gilead, there was not a city too high for us: the LORD our God delivered up all before us.
ב׳:ל"ו מֵעֲרֹעֵר דִּי עַל כֵּיף נַחֲלָא דְאַרְנֹן וְקַרְתָּא דִי בְנַחֲלָא וְעַד גִּלְעָד לָא הֲוַת קַרְתָּא דִּי תְקֵפַת מִנָּנָא יָת כֹּלָּא מְסַר יְיָ אֱלָהָנָא קֳדָמָנָא:
ב׳:ל"ז רַ֛ק אֶל־אֶ֥רֶץ בְּנֵי־עַמּ֖וֹן לֹ֣א קָרָ֑בְתָּ כָּל־יַ֞ד נַ֤חַל יַבֹּק֙ וְעָרֵ֣י הָהָ֔ר וְכֹ֥ל אֲשֶׁר־צִוָּ֖ה יְהוָ֥ה אֱלֹהֵֽינוּ׃
2:37 But you did not encroach upon the land of the Ammonites, all along the wadi Jabbok and the towns of the hill country, just as the LORD our God had commanded.
2:37 Only to the land of the children of Ammon thou camest not near; all the side of the river Jabbok, and the cities of the hill-country, and wheresoever the LORD our God forbade us.
ב׳:ל"ז לְחוֹד לְאַרְעָא בְנֵי עַמּוֹן לָא קָרֶבְתָּא כָּל כֵּיף נַחֲלָא יוּבְקָא וְקִרְוֵי טוּרָא וְכֹל דִּי פַקִּיד יְיָ אֱלָהָנָא:
ג׳:א׳ וַנֵּ֣פֶן וַנַּ֔עַל דֶּ֖רֶךְ הַבָּשָׁ֑ן וַיֵּצֵ֣א עוֹג֩ מֶֽלֶךְ־הַבָּשָׁ֨ן לִקְרָאתֵ֜נוּ ה֧וּא וְכָל־עַמּ֛וֹ לַמִּלְחָמָ֖ה אֶדְרֶֽעִי׃
3:1 We made our way up the road toward Bashan, and King Og of Bashan with all his men took the field against us at Edrei.
3:1 Then we turned, and went up the way to Bashan; and Og the king of Bashan came out against us, he and all his people, unto battle at Edrei.
ג׳:א׳ וְאִתְפְּנֵינָא וּסְלֶקְנָא אֹרַח דְּמַתְנָן וּנְפַק עוֹג מַלְכָּא דְּמַתְנָן לְקַדָּמוּתָנָא הוּא וְכָל עַמֵּיהּ לַאֲגָחָא קְרָבָא אֶדְרֶעִי:
ג׳:ב׳ וַיֹּ֨אמֶר יְהוָ֤ה אֵלַי֙ אַל־תִּירָ֣א אֹת֔וֹ כִּ֣י בְיָדְךָ֞ נָתַ֧תִּי אֹת֛וֹ וְאֶת־כָּל־עַמּ֖וֹ וְאֶת־אַרְצ֑וֹ וְעָשִׂ֣יתָ לּ֔וֹ כַּאֲשֶׁ֣ר עָשִׂ֗יתָ לְסִיחֹן֙ מֶ֣לֶךְ הָֽאֱמֹרִ֔י אֲשֶׁ֥ר יוֹשֵׁ֖ב בְּחֶשְׁבּֽוֹן׃
3:2 But the LORD said to me: Do not fear him, for I am delivering him and all his men and his country into your power, and you will do to him as you did to Sihon king of the Amorites, who lived in Heshbon.
3:2 And the LORD said unto me: ‘Fear him not; for I have delivered him, and all his people, and his land, into thy hand; and thou shalt do unto him as thou didst unto Sihon king of the Amorites, who dwelt at Heshbon.’
ג׳:ב׳ וַאֲמַר יְיָ לִי לָא תִדְחַל יָתֵיהּ אֲרֵי בִידָךְ מְסָרִית יָתֵיהּ וְיָת כָּל עַמֵּיהּ וְיָת אַרְעֵיהּ וְתַעְבֶּד לֵיהּ כְּמָא דִי עֲבַדְתָּא לְסִיחֹן מַלְכָּא דֶאֱמֹרָאָה דִּי יָתֵב בְּחֶשְׁבּוֹן:
ג׳:ג׳ וַיִּתֵּן֩ יְהוָ֨ה אֱלֹהֵ֜ינוּ בְּיָדֵ֗נוּ גַּ֛ם אֶת־ע֥וֹג מֶֽלֶךְ־הַבָּשָׁ֖ן וְאֶת־כָּל־עַמּ֑וֹ וַנַּכֵּ֕הוּ עַד־בִּלְתִּ֥י הִשְׁאִֽיר־ל֖וֹ שָׂרִֽיד׃
3:3 So the LORD our God also delivered into our power King Og of Bashan, with all his men, and we dealt them such a blow that no survivor was left.
3:3 So the LORD our God delivered into our hand Og also, the king of Bashan, and all his people; and we smote him until none was left to him remaining.
ג׳:ג׳ וּמְסַר יְיָ אֱלָהָנָא בִּידָנָא אַף יָת עוֹג מַלְכָּא דְמַתְנָן וְיָת כָּל עַמֵּיהּ וּמְחִנּוֹהִי עַד דְּלָא אִשְׁתָּאַר לֵיהּ מְשֵׁזֵב:
ג׳:ד׳ וַנִּלְכֹּ֤ד אֶת־כָּל־עָרָיו֙ בָּעֵ֣ת הַהִ֔וא לֹ֤א הָֽיְתָה֙ קִרְיָ֔ה אֲשֶׁ֥ר לֹא־לָקַ֖חְנוּ מֵֽאִתָּ֑ם שִׁשִּׁ֥ים עִיר֙ כָּל־חֶ֣בֶל אַרְגֹּ֔ב מַמְלֶ֥כֶת ע֖וֹג בַּבָּשָֽׁן׃
3:4 At that time we captured all his towns; there was not a town that we did not take from them: sixty towns, the whole district of Argob, the kingdom of Og in Bashan—
3:4 And we took all his cities at that time; there was not a city which we took not from them; threescore cities, all the region of Argob, the kingdom of Og in Bashan.
ג׳:ד׳ וּכְבַשְׁנָא יָת כָּל קִרְווֹהִי בְּעִדָּנָא הַהִיא לָא הֲוַת קַרְתָּא דִּי לָא נְסִבְנָא מִנְּהוֹן שִׁתִּין קִרְוִין כָּל בֵּית פָּלָךְ טְרָכוֹנָא מַלְכְּוָתָא דְעוֹג בְּמַתְנָן:
ג׳:ה׳ כָּל־אֵ֜לֶּה עָרִ֧ים בְּצֻר֛וֹת חוֹמָ֥ה גְבֹהָ֖ה דְּלָתַ֣יִם וּבְרִ֑יחַ לְבַ֛ד מֵעָרֵ֥י הַפְּרָזִ֖י הַרְבֵּ֥ה מְאֹֽד׃
3:5 all those towns were fortified with high walls, gates,aI.e., two-leaf doors. and bars—apart from a great number of unwalled towns.
3:5 All these were fortified cities, with high walls, gates, and bars; beside the unwalled towns a great many.
ג׳:ה׳ כָּל אִלֵּין קִרְוִין כְּרִיכָן מַקְּפָן שׁוּר רָם דִּילְהֶן דָּשִׁין וְעַבְּרִין בַּר מִקִּרְוֵי פַּצְחַיָּא סַגִּי לַחֲדָא:
ג׳:ו׳ וַנַּחֲרֵ֣ם אוֹתָ֔ם כַּאֲשֶׁ֣ר עָשִׂ֔ינוּ לְסִיחֹ֖ן מֶ֣לֶךְ חֶשְׁבּ֑וֹן הַחֲרֵם֙ כָּל־עִ֣יר מְתִ֔ם הַנָּשִׁ֖ים וְהַטָּֽף׃
3:6 We doomed them as we had done in the case of King Sihon of Heshbon; we doomed every town—men, women, and children—
3:6 And we utterly destroyed them, as we did unto Sihon king of Heshbon, utterly destroying every city, the men, and the women, and the little ones.
ג׳:ו׳ וְגַמַּרְנָא יָתְהוֹן כְּמָא דִי עֲבַדְנָא לְסִיחֹן מַלְכָּא דְחֶשְׁבּוֹן גַּמַּר כָּל קִרְוֵי גֻבְרַיָּא נְשַׁיָּא וְטַפְלָא:
ג׳:ז׳ וְכָל־הַבְּהֵמָ֛ה וּשְׁלַ֥ל הֶעָרִ֖ים בַּזּ֥וֹנוּ לָֽנוּ׃
3:7 and retained as booty all the cattle and the spoil of the towns.
3:7 But all the cattle, and the spoil of the cities, we took for a prey unto ourselves.
ג׳:ז׳ וְכָל בְּעִירָא וַעֲדִי קִרְוַיָּא בַּזָּנָא לָנָא:
ג׳:ח׳ וַנִּקַּ֞ח בָּעֵ֤ת הַהִוא֙ אֶת־הָאָ֔רֶץ מִיַּ֗ד שְׁנֵי֙ מַלְכֵ֣י הָאֱמֹרִ֔י אֲשֶׁ֖ר בְּעֵ֣בֶר הַיַּרְדֵּ֑ן מִנַּ֥חַל אַרְנֹ֖ן עַד־הַ֥ר חֶרְמֽוֹן׃
3:8 Thus we seized, at that time, from the two Amorite kings, the country beyond the Jordan, from the wadi Arnon to Mount Hermon—
3:8 And we took the land at that time out of the hand of the two kings of the Amorites that were beyond the Jordan, from the valley of Arnon unto mount Hermon—
ג׳:ח׳ וּנְסִבְנָא בְּעִדָּנָא הַהִיא יָת אַרְעָא מִיָּדָא תְּרֵין מַלְכֵי אֱמֹרָאָה דִּי בְּעִבְרָא דְיַרְדְּנָא מִנַּחֲלָא דְאַרְנֹן עַד טוּרָא דְחֶרְמוֹן:
ג׳:ט׳ צִידֹנִ֛ים יִקְרְא֥וּ לְחֶרְמ֖וֹן שִׂרְיֹ֑ן וְהָ֣אֱמֹרִ֔י יִקְרְאוּ־ל֖וֹ שְׂנִֽיר׃
3:9 Sidonians called Hermon Sirion, and the Amorites call it Senir—
3:9 which Hermon the Sidonians call Sirion, and the Amorites call it Senir—
ג׳:ט׳ צִידֹנָאֵי קְרָאן לְחֶרְמוֹן סִרְיֹן וֶאֱמֹרָאֵי קְרָאן לֵיהּ טוּר תַּלְגָּא:
ג׳:י׳ כֹּ֣ל ׀ עָרֵ֣י הַמִּישֹׁ֗ר וְכָל־הַגִּלְעָד֙ וְכָל־הַבָּשָׁ֔ן עַד־סַלְכָ֖ה וְאֶדְרֶ֑עִי עָרֵ֛י מַמְלֶ֥כֶת ע֖וֹג בַּבָּשָֽׁן׃
3:10 all the towns of the Tableland and the whole of Gilead and Bashan as far as SalcahbOthers “Salecah” or “Salchah.” and Edrei, the towns of Og’s kingdom in Bashan.
3:10 all the cities of the plain, and all Gilead, and all Bashan, unto Salcah and Edrei, cities of the kingdom of Og in Bashan.—
ג׳:י׳ כֹּל קִרְוֵי מֵישְׁרָא וְכָל גִּלְעָד וְכָל דְּמַתְנָן עַד סַלְכָה וְאֶדְרֶעִי קִרְוֵי מַלְכְּוָתָא דְעוֹג בְּמַתְנָן:
ג׳:י"א כִּ֣י רַק־ע֞וֹג מֶ֣לֶךְ הַבָּשָׁ֗ן נִשְׁאַר֮ מִיֶּ֣תֶר הָרְפָאִים֒ הִנֵּ֤ה עַרְשׂוֹ֙ עֶ֣רֶשׂ בַּרְזֶ֔ל הֲלֹ֣ה הִ֔וא בְּרַבַּ֖ת בְּנֵ֣י עַמּ֑וֹן תֵּ֧שַׁע אַמּ֣וֹת אָרְכָּ֗הּ וְאַרְבַּ֥ע אַמּ֛וֹת רָחְבָּ֖הּ בְּאַמַּת־אִֽישׁ׃
3:11 Only King Og of Bashan was left of the remaining Rephaim. His bedstead, an iron bedstead, is now in Rabbah of the Ammonites; it is nine cubits long and four cubits wide, by cLit. “by a man’s forearm.”the standard cubit!-c
3:11 For only Og king of Bashan remained of the remnant of the Rephaim; behold, his bedstead was a bedstead of iron; is it not in Rabbah of the children of Ammon? nine cubits was the length thereof, and four cubits the breadth of it, after the cubit of a man.—
ג׳:י"א אֲרֵי לְחוֹד עוֹג מַלְכָּא דְמַתְנָן אִשְׁתָּאַר מִשְּׁאָר גִּבָּרַיָּא הָא עַרְסֵיהּ עַרְסָא דְפַרְזְלָא הֲלָא הִיא בְּרַבַּת בְּנֵי עַמּוֹן תְּשַׁע אַמִּין אָרְכַּהּ וְאַרְבַּע אַמִּין פְּתָיַהּ בְּאַמַת מְלַךְ:
ג׳:י"ב וְאֶת־הָאָ֧רֶץ הַזֹּ֛את יָרַ֖שְׁנוּ בָּעֵ֣ת הַהִ֑וא מֵעֲרֹעֵ֞ר אֲשֶׁר־עַל־נַ֣חַל אַרְנֹ֗ן וַחֲצִ֤י הַֽר־הַגִּלְעָד֙ וְעָרָ֔יו נָתַ֕תִּי לָרֻֽאוּבֵנִ֖י וְלַגָּדִֽי׃
3:12 dVv. 12–13 proceed from south to north; vv. 14–16 from north to south.And this is the land which we apportioned at that time: The part from Aroer along the wadi Arnon, with part of the hill country of Gilead and its towns, I assigned to the Reubenites and the Gadites.
3:12 And this land we took in possession at that time; from Aroer, which is by the valley of Arnon, and half the hill-country of Gilead, and the cities thereof, gave I unto the Reubenites and to the Gadites;
ג׳:י"ב וְיָת אַרְעָא הָדָא יְרִיתְנָא בְּעִדָּנָא הַהִיא מֵעֲרֹעֵר דִּי עַל נַחֲלָא דְאַרְנֹן וּפַלְגּוּת טוּרָא דְגִלְעָד וְקִרְווֹהִי יְהָבִית לְשִׁבְטָא דִרְאוּבֵן וּלְשִׁבְטָא דְגָד:
ג׳:י"ג וְיֶ֨תֶר הַגִּלְעָ֤ד וְכָל־הַבָּשָׁן֙ מַמְלֶ֣כֶת ע֔וֹג נָתַ֕תִּי לַחֲצִ֖י שֵׁ֣בֶט הַֽמְנַשֶּׁ֑ה כֹּ֣ל חֶ֤בֶל הָֽאַרְגֹּב֙ לְכָל־הַבָּשָׁ֔ן הַה֥וּא יִקָּרֵ֖א אֶ֥רֶץ רְפָאִֽים׃
3:13 The rest of Gilead, and all of Bashan under Og’s rule—the whole Argob district, all that part of Bashan which is called Rephaim country—I assigned to the half-tribe of Manasseh.
3:13 and the rest of Gilead, and all Bashan, the kingdom of Og, gave I unto the half-tribe of Manasseh; all the region of Argob—all that Bashan is called the land of Rephaim.
ג׳:י"ג וּשְׁאָר גִּלְעָד וְכָל דְּמַתְנָן מַלְכְּוָתָא דְעוֹג יְהָבִית לְפַלְגוּת שִׁבְטָא דִמְנַשֶּׁה כֹּל בֵּית פָּלַךְ טְרָכוֹנָא לְכָל מַתְנָן הַהוּא מִתְקְרֵי אַרְעָא גִבָּרַיָּא:
ג׳:י"ד יָאִ֣יר בֶּן־מְנַשֶּׁ֗ה לָקַח֙ אֶת־כָּל־חֶ֣בֶל אַרְגֹּ֔ב עַד־גְּב֥וּל הַגְּשׁוּרִ֖י וְהַמַּֽעֲכָתִ֑י וַיִּקְרָא֩ אֹתָ֨ם עַל־שְׁמ֤וֹ אֶת־הַבָּשָׁן֙ חַוֺּ֣ת יָאִ֔יר עַ֖ד הַיּ֥וֹם הַזֶּֽה׃
3:14 Jair son of Manasseh received the whole Argob district (that is, Bashan) as far as the boundary of the Geshurites and the Maacathites, and named it after himself: Havvoth-jaireI.e., “villages of Jair.”—as is still the case.
3:14 Jair the son of Manasseh took all the region of Argob, unto the border of the Geshurites and the Maacathites, and called them, even Bashan, after his own name, Havvoth-jair, unto this day.—
ג׳:י"ד יָאִיר בַּר מְנַשֶּׁה נְסִיב יָת כָּל בֵּית פָּלַךְ טְרָכוֹנָא עַד תְּחוּם גְּשׁוּרָאָה וְאַפְקֵירוֹס וּקְרָא יָתְהוֹן עַל שְׁמֵיהּ יָת מַתְנָן כַּפְרָנֵי יָאִיר עַד יוֹמָא הָדֵין:
