י"ט:י"ח וְלָקַ֨ח אֵז֜וֹב וְטָבַ֣ל בַּמַּיִם֮ אִ֣ישׁ טָהוֹר֒ וְהִזָּ֤ה עַל־הָאֹ֙הֶל֙ וְעַל־כָּל־הַכֵּלִ֔ים וְעַל־הַנְּפָשׁ֖וֹת אֲשֶׁ֣ר הָֽיוּ־שָׁ֑ם וְעַל־הַנֹּגֵ֗עַ בַּעֶ֙צֶם֙ א֣וֹ בֶֽחָלָ֔ל א֥וֹ בַמֵּ֖ת א֥וֹ בַקָּֽבֶר׃
19:18 A person who is clean shall take hyssop, dip it in the water, and sprinkle on the tent and on all the vessels and people who were there, or on him who touched the bones or the person who was killed or died naturally or the grave.
19:18 And a clean person shall take hyssop, and dip it in the water, and sprinkle it upon the tent, and upon all the vessels, and upon the persons that were there, and upon him that touched the bone, or the slain, or the dead, or the grave.
י"ט:י"ח וְיִסַּב אֵזוֹבָא וְיִטְבּוֹל בְּמַיָּא גְּבַר דְּכֵי וְיַדֵּי עַל מַשְׁכְּנָא וְעַל כָּל מָנַיָּא וְעַל נַפְשָׁתָא דִּי הֲווֹ תַמָּן וְעַל דְּיִקְרַב בְּגַרְמָא אוֹ בְקָטִילָא אוֹ בְמֵיתָא אוֹ בְקִבְרָא:
י"ט:י"ט וְהִזָּ֤ה הַטָּהֹר֙ עַל־הַטָּמֵ֔א בַּיּ֥וֹם הַשְּׁלִישִׁ֖י וּבַיּ֣וֹם הַשְּׁבִיעִ֑י וְחִטְּאוֹ֙ בַּיּ֣וֹם הַשְּׁבִיעִ֔י וְכִבֶּ֧ס בְּגָדָ֛יו וְרָחַ֥ץ בַּמַּ֖יִם וְטָהֵ֥ר בָּעָֽרֶב׃
19:19 The clean person shall sprinkle it upon the unclean person on the third day and on the seventh day, thus cleansing him by the seventh day. HeeI.e., the person being cleansed. shall then wash his clothes and bathe in water, and at nightfall he shall be clean.
19:19 And the clean person shall sprinkle upon the unclean on the third day, and on the seventh day; and on the seventh day he shall purify him; and he shall wash his clothes, and bathe himself in water, and shall be clean at even.
י"ט:י"ט וְיַדֵּי דַכְיָא עַל מְסָאֲבָא בְּיוֹמָא תְלִיתָאָה וּבְיוֹמָא שְׁבִיעָאָה וִידַכִּנֵּיהּ בְּיוֹמָא שְׁבִיעָאָה וִיצַבַּע לְבוּשׁוֹהִי וְיַסְחֵי בְמַיָּא וְיִדְכֵּי בְרַמְשָׁא:
י"ט:כ׳ וְאִ֤ישׁ אֲשֶׁר־יִטְמָא֙ וְלֹ֣א יִתְחַטָּ֔א וְנִכְרְתָ֛ה הַנֶּ֥פֶשׁ הַהִ֖וא מִתּ֣וֹךְ הַקָּהָ֑ל כִּי֩ אֶת־מִקְדַּ֨שׁ יְהוָ֜ה טִמֵּ֗א מֵ֥י נִדָּ֛ה לֹא־זֹרַ֥ק עָלָ֖יו טָמֵ֥א הֽוּא׃
19:20 If anyone who has become unclean fails to cleanse himself, that person shall be cut off from the congregation, for he has defiled the LORD’s sanctuary. The water of lustration was not dashed on him: he is unclean.
19:20 But the man that shall be unclean, and shall not purify himself, that soul shall be cut off from the midst of the assembly, because he hath defiled the sanctuary of the LORD; the water of sprinkling hath not been dashed against him: he is unclean.
י"ט:כ׳ וּגְבַר דִּי יִסְתָּאַב וְלָא יַדֵּי עֲלוֹהִי וְיִשְׁתֵּצֵי אֱנָשָׁא הַהוּא מִגּוֹ קְהָלָא אֲרֵי יָת מַקְדְּשָׁא דַיְיָ סָאִיב מֵי אַדָּיוּתָא לָא אִזְדְּרִיקוּ עֲלוֹהִי מְסָאָב הוּא:
י"ט:כ"א וְהָיְתָ֥ה לָּהֶ֖ם לְחֻקַּ֣ת עוֹלָ֑ם וּמַזֵּ֤ה מֵֽי־הַנִּדָּה֙ יְכַבֵּ֣ס בְּגָדָ֔יו וְהַנֹּגֵ֙עַ֙ בְּמֵ֣י הַנִּדָּ֔ה יִטְמָ֖א עַד־הָעָֽרֶב׃
19:21 That shall be for them a law for all time. Further, he who sprinkled the water of lustration shall wash his clothes; and whoever touches the water of lustration shall be unclean until evening.
19:21 And it shall be a perpetual statute unto them; and he that sprinkleth the water of sprinkling shall wash his clothes; and he that toucheth the water of sprinkling shall be unclean until even.
י"ט:כ"א וּתְהֵי לְהוֹן לִקְיַם עֳלָם וּדְיַדֵּי מֵי אַדָּיוּתָא יְצַבַּע לְבוּשׁוֹהִי וּדְיִקְרַב בְּמֵי אַדָּיוּתָא יְהֵי מְסָאָב עַד רַמְשָׁא:
י"ט:כ"ב וְכֹ֛ל אֲשֶׁר־יִגַּע־בּ֥וֹ הַטָּמֵ֖א יִטְמָ֑א וְהַנֶּ֥פֶשׁ הַנֹּגַ֖עַת תִּטְמָ֥א עַד־הָעָֽרֶב׃ (פ)
19:22 Whatever that unclean person touches shall be unclean; and the person who touches him shall be unclean until evening.
19:22 And whatsoever the unclean person toucheth shall be unclean; and the soul that toucheth him shall be unclean until even.
י"ט:כ"ב וְכֹל דִּי יִקְרַב בֵּיהּ מְסָאָבָא יְהֵי מְסָאָב וֶאֱנַשׁ דְּיִקְרַב בֵּיהּ יְהֵי מְסָאָב עַד רַמְשָׁא:
ויקחו אליך. מִשֶּׁלָּהֶם, כְּשֵׁם שֶׁהֵם פֵּרְקוּ נִזְמֵי הַזָּהָב לָעֵגֶל מִשֶּׁלָּהֶם, כָּךְ יָבִיאוּ זוֹ לְכַפָּרָה מִשֶּׁלָּהֶם: [רש"י בשם ר' משה הדרשן]
פרה אדמה. מָשָׁל לְבֶן שִׁפְחָה שֶׁטִּנֵּף פָּלָטִין שֶׁל מֶלֶךְ, אָמְרוּ תָּבֹא אִמּוֹ וּתְקַנֵּחַ הַצּוֹאָה, כָּךְ תָּבֹא פָרָה וּתְכַפֵּר עַל הָעֵגֶל (תנחומא): [רש"י בשם ר' משה הדרשן]
אדמה. עַל שֵׁם "אִם יַאְדִּימוּ כַתּוֹלָע" (ישעיהו א'), שֶׁהַחֵטְא קָרוּי אָדֹם: [רש"י בשם ר' משה הדרשן]
תמימה. עַל שֵׁם יִשְׂרָאֵל שֶׁהָיוּ תְמִימִים, וְנַעֲשׂוּ בוֹ בַּעֲלֵי מוּמִין, תָּבֹא זוֹ וּתְכַפֵּר עֲלֵיהֶם וְיַחְזְרוּ לְתַמּוּתָם: [רש"י בשם ר' משה הדרשן]
לא עלה עליה על. כְּשֵׁם שֶׁפָּרְקוּ מֵעֲלֵיהֶם עֹל שָׁמַיִם: [רש"י בשם ר' משה הדרשן]
אל אלעזר הכהן. כְּשֵׁם שֶׁנִּקְהֲלוּ עַל אַהֲרֹן, שֶׁהוּא כֹּהֵן, לַעֲשׂוֹת הָעֵגֶל; וּלְפִי שֶׁאַהֲרֹן עָשָׂה אֶת הָעֵגֶל לֹא נִתְּנָה לוֹ עֲבוֹדָה זוֹ עַל יָדוֹ, שֶׁאֵין קַטֵּיגוֹר נַעֲשֶׂה סַנֵּיגוֹר: [רש"י בשם ר' משה הדרשן]
ושרף את הפרה. כְּשֵׁם שֶׁנִּשְׂרַף הָעֵגֶל: [רש"י בשם ר' משה הדרשן]
עץ ארז ואזוב ושני תולעת. שְׁלֹשָׁה מִינִין הַלָּלוּ כְּנֶגֶד שְׁלֹשֶׁת אַלְפֵי אִישׁ שֶׁנָּפְלוּ בָעֵגֶל, וְאֶרֶז הוּא הַגָּבוֹהַּ מִכָּל הָאִילָנוֹת וְאֵזוֹב נָמוּךְ מִכֻּלָּם, סִימָן שֶׁהַגָּבוֹהַּ שֶׁנִּתְגָּאָה וְחָטָא יַשְׁפִּיל אֶת עַצְמוֹ כְּאֵזוֹב וְתוֹלַעַת וְיִתְכַּפֵּר לוֹ: [רש"י בשם ר' משה הדרשן]
למשמרת. כְּמוֹ שֶׁפֶּשַׁע הָעֵגֶל שָׁמוּר לְדוֹרוֹת לְפֻרְעָנוּת, וְאֵין לְךָ פְּקֻדָּה שֶׁאֵין בָּהּ מִפְּקֻדַּת הָעֵגֶל, שֶׁנֶּאֱמַר "וּבְיוֹם פָּקְדִי וּפָקַדְתִּי" וְגוֹ' (שמות ל"ב), וּכְשֵׁם שֶׁהָעֵגֶל מְטַמֵּא כָּל הָעוֹסְקִים בּוֹ, כָּךְ פָּרָה תְטַמֵּא כָּל הָעוֹסְקִין בּוֹ, וּכְשֵׁם שֶׁנִּטְהֲרוּ בְּאֶפְרוֹ, שֶׁנֶּאֱמַר "וַיִּזֶר עַל פְּנֵי הַמַּיִם" וְגוֹ' (שם), כָּךְ "וְלָקְחוּ לַטָּמֵא מֵעֲפַר שְׂרֵפַת הַחַטָּאת" וְגוֹ": [רש"י בשם ר' משה הדרשן]
כ׳:א׳ וַיָּבֹ֣אוּ בְנֵֽי־יִ֠שְׂרָאֵל כָּל־הָ֨עֵדָ֤ה מִדְבַּר־צִן֙ בַּחֹ֣דֶשׁ הָֽרִאשׁ֔וֹן וַיֵּ֥שֶׁב הָעָ֖ם בְּקָדֵ֑שׁ וַתָּ֤מָת שָׁם֙ מִרְיָ֔ם וַתִּקָּבֵ֖ר שָֽׁם׃
20:1 The Israelites arrived in a body at the wilderness of Zin on the first new moon,aOf the fortieth year; cf. Num. 33.36–38. and the people stayed at Kadesh. Miriam died there and was buried there.
20:1 And the children of Israel, even the whole congregation, came into the wilderness of Zin in the first month; and the people abode in Kadesh; and Miriam died there, and was buried there.
כ׳:א׳ וַאֲתוֹ בְנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל כָּל כְּנִשְׁתָּא לְמַדְבְּרָא דְצִין בְּיַרְחָא קַדְמָאָה וִיתֵב עַמָּא בִּרְקָם וּמִיתַת תַּמָּן מִרְיָם וְאִתְקְבָרַת תַּמָּן:
כ׳:ב׳ וְלֹא־הָ֥יָה מַ֖יִם לָעֵדָ֑ה וַיִּקָּ֣הֲל֔וּ עַל־מֹשֶׁ֖ה וְעַֽל־אַהֲרֹֽן׃
20:2 The community was without water, and they joined against Moses and Aaron.
20:2 And there was no water for the congregation; and they assembled themselves together against Moses and against Aaron.
כ׳:ב׳ וְלָא הֲוָה מַיָּא לִכְנִשְׁתָּא וְאִתְכְּנָשׁוּ עַל משֶׁה וְעַל אַהֲרֹן:
כ׳:ג׳ וַיָּ֥רֶב הָעָ֖ם עִם־מֹשֶׁ֑ה וַיֹּאמְר֣וּ לֵאמֹ֔ר וְל֥וּ גָוַ֛עְנוּ בִּגְוַ֥ע אַחֵ֖ינוּ לִפְנֵ֥י יְהוָֽה׃
20:3 The people quarreled with Moses, saying, “If only we had perished when our brothers perished at the instance of the LORD!
20:3 And the people strove with Moses, and spoke, saying: ‘Would that we had perished when our brethren perished before the LORD!
כ׳:ג׳ וּנְצָא עַמָּא עִם משֶׁה וַאֲמָרוּ לְמֵימַר וּלְוֵי דְמִתְנָא בְּמוֹתָא דְאַחָנָא קֳדָם יְיָ:
כ׳:ד׳ וְלָמָ֤ה הֲבֵאתֶם֙ אֶת־קְהַ֣ל יְהוָ֔ה אֶל־הַמִּדְבָּ֖ר הַזֶּ֑ה לָמ֣וּת שָׁ֔ם אֲנַ֖חְנוּ וּבְעִירֵֽנוּ׃
20:4 Why have you brought the LORD’s congregation into this wilderness for us and our beasts to die there?
20:4 And why have ye brought the assembly of the LORD into this wilderness, to die there, we and our cattle?
כ׳:ד׳ וּלְמָא אַעֶלְתּוּן יָת קְהָלָא דַיְיָ לְמַדְבְּרָא הָדֵין לִמְמַת תַּמָּן אֲנַחְנָא וּבְעִירָנָא:
כ׳:ה׳ וְלָמָ֤ה הֶֽעֱלִיתֻ֙נוּ֙ מִמִּצְרַ֔יִם לְהָבִ֣יא אֹתָ֔נוּ אֶל־הַמָּק֥וֹם הָרָ֖ע הַזֶּ֑ה לֹ֣א ׀ מְק֣וֹם זֶ֗רַע וּתְאֵנָ֤ה וְגֶ֙פֶן֙ וְרִמּ֔וֹן וּמַ֥יִם אַ֖יִן לִשְׁתּֽוֹת׃
20:5 Why did you make us leave Egypt to bring us to this wretched place, a place with no grain or figs or vines or pomegranates? There is not even water to drink!”
20:5 And wherefore have ye made us to come up out of Egypt, to bring us in unto this evil place? it is no place of seed, or of figs, or of vines, or of pomegranates; neither is there any water to drink.’
כ׳:ה׳ וּלְמָא אַסֶּקְתּוּנָא מִמִּצְרַיִם לְאַיְתָאָה יָתָנָא לְאַתְרָא בִישָׁא הָדֵין לָא אָתַר כְּשַׁר לְבֵית זְרַע וְאַף לָא תֵינִין וְגוּפְנִין וְרִמּוֹנִין וּמַיָּא לֵית לְמִשְׁתֵּי:
כ׳:ו׳ וַיָּבֹא֩ מֹשֶׁ֨ה וְאַהֲרֹ֜ן מִפְּנֵ֣י הַקָּהָ֗ל אֶל־פֶּ֙תַח֙ אֹ֣הֶל מוֹעֵ֔ד וַֽיִּפְּל֖וּ עַל־פְּנֵיהֶ֑ם וַיֵּרָ֥א כְבוֹד־יְהוָ֖ה אֲלֵיהֶֽם׃ (פ)
20:6 Moses and Aaron came away from the congregation to the entrance of the Tent of Meeting, and fell on their faces. The Presence of the LORD appeared to them,
20:6 And Moses and Aaron went from the presence of the assembly unto the door of the tent of meeting, and fell upon their faces; and the glory of the LORD appeared unto them.
כ׳:ו׳ וְעַל משֶׁה וְאַהֲרֹן מִן קֳדָם קְהָלָא לִתְרַע מַשְׁכַּן זִמְנָא וּנְפָלוּ עַל אַפֵּיהוֹן וְאִתְגְּלֵי יְקָרָא דַיְיָ לְהוֹן:
